Once you've got a few months in, you'll be the one checking a newer student's stance β€” ready or not. It isn't a favour to us; explaining a move is what exposes the bits you didn't actually understand. It's built into how an academy runs.

One thing people are always surprised by: how little standing around there is. ⏱️
No lining up for a turn at the bag. The whole mat works at once, in pairs, the entire session. You'll be moving for most of the hour β€” which is also why nobody needs to do a separate workout afterwards.

There's a difference between kids in a room and kids training together. πŸ₯‹
Here they're paired up every class β€” taking turns, holding pads for each other, correcting each other, laughing when it goes wrong. Not silent rows facing the front. Honestly? The friendships are half the reason they keep turning up.

Your very first kung fu lesson isn't a punch. It's the stance the punch comes out of. 🧍
Where your feet sit, where your weight sits, which foot is ready. It's the least impressive thing you'll ever be taught and the one you'll use in every single class after it. Get it wrong and nothing built on top of it works.

Every technique starts at walking pace, because your body only records what it can actually feel. Rush it and you learn it wrong β€” then spend twice as long unlearning it. Speed isn't trained. It's what shows up once the shape is right.
