🇦🇸🥎 Coach Vili Reappointed to Lead U15 Women’s National Softball Team 🥎🇦🇸

American Samoa Softball proudly announces Leaupepetele Viliafi “Vili” Fa’apouli has been reappointed as Head Coach of the U15 Women’s National Softball Team, returning to guide the program into the WBSC Oceania U15 World Cup Qualifier on home soil this summer.

Coach Vili previously led American Samoa to a historic 10th-place finish at the 2023 WBSC U15 World Cup in Italy, the territory’s first-ever World Cup appearance.

With decades of service across youth baseball and softball, National Team experience, and coaching roles in American Samoa, Utah, and Alaska, Coach Vili continues to embody the Samoan proverb:
“O le ala i le p**e o le tautua” - the pathway to leadership is through service.

“Every opportunity to coach is a chance to give back to the community that raised me.” - Coach Vili Fa’apouli

Shout-out to all the amazing people who make baseball and softball possible across Oceania. ⚾️🙌🥎🙌

Coaches, umpires, scorers, groundskeepers, canteen workers, administrators, and all the other volunteers involved in our great games certainly deserve recognition.

From local competitions to national and international events, volunteers help create a positive experience for baseballers and softballers of all ages.

The USA have made a dominant start to the USA Down Under Series, taking two wins over Australia so far. Although the scorelines haven’t been close, the opening exchanges of each game have been tight and competitive. Beyond the results, both teams are using this series to sharpen different aspects of their game — testing combinations, building depth, and setting foundations for what’s ahead.
Plenty of positives, plenty of learning, and more growth to come as the series continues.
