Unveiling of "Mai te ara o Tū ki te ūnga o Rongo" by Ringatoi Māori ~

This piece reflects a journey of warriors from all backgrounds. But on this journey, there is also a battle within ourselves. We all carry warlike behaviour, but we also carry peace.

The two figures in the middle represent Tūmātauenga, the god of war, and Rongo, the god of peace. They are embracing unity — something we all have the power to become. From this, a bond of light radiates from the darkness. The sun in the background represents that space.

The waka at the bottom represents the journey itself, and all those who come along to be a part of it.

The black rays, with the mangōpare koru projecting from the sun, represent the learning of martial arts and the disciplines it teaches us. The white rays, with the small pākati inside and the purple flares, represent dedication, commitment, learning, and healing — all essential parts of this journey.

The Māori flag represents where we are today, and the struggles and fights we still face against those who continue to oppress our way of life and our connection to Te Ao Māori — the bond that holds us together.

The pītau whakareia figure at the front of the waka represents the kaiako — the knowledge holder, the teacher, the one who feeds those who are hungry for knowledge and leads the way.

The taurapa at the back of the waka represents the ākonga — the student, the one who learns not only knowledge, but also humility, discipline, confidence, self-empowerment, and all the values that align with this journey.

Rest in love Hakaraia Wilson ❤️❤️

It’s with profound sadness that we share the passing of a true pillar of the community, Hakaraia Wilson 💔

Words cannot explain. Our thoughts and love are with P**i and the family ❤️🙏

Haks, your presence will always be felt—through the lives you touched, the lessons you shared, and the spirit you brought to everything you did. Rest easy, knowing your time here, though far too short, left an impact that will not be forgotten ❤️

Haere rā, e te toa, haere ki tua o te ārai. Moe mai rā i te rangimārie.

LONG LIVE TE HAKARAIA O TE RANGI WILSON ❤️🕊️

On Saturday I received my 2nd degree from my head coach and brother . I am humbled to be a part of this beautiful community which Vanderson has worked so hard to build ❤️🥋 Much love and respect to the Combat Room whānau 👊🏽

I was then honored to give his 1st degree. This man has been my longest training partner and still to this day has the most annoying defense 😂 Love you my brother❤️💯
