The Palmerston North Golf Club is bringing you Matariki Mayhem on Friday, 10th July 2026 (Matariki Day). This is an exclusive, 18-hole event for PNGC members only, and itβs going to test your team's strategy and skill!
Here is the twist:
Four Players, Four Clubs, One Ball!
Your team is restricted to just 1 Driver, 1 Wood, 1 Iron, and 1 Putter.
You must play in a strict club sequence for all 18 holes.
When: Friday, 10th July 2026
π Time: 12:00 PM Sharp (Shotgun Start from the Yellow Tees)
π° Cost: Only $20 per team of four
π Handicaps: Set on the day, with full rules provided prior to tee-off.
Gather your crew and enter your team at the Pro-Shop. Don't waitβentries close at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, 8th July. Are you ready for the mayhem? π
Rules:
MATARIKI MAYHEM RULES
Four Players / Four Clubs Competition
1. 4 Players per team only.
2. Only 1 club per playerβ Driver, 3 Wood, 7 Iron, Putter. As decided by the
Golf Committee.
3. The team decides prior to the game, which team member will play with which
club. They must remain with their allocated club throughout the competition.
They cannot change clubs.
4. On your first hole only the player with the driver will tee off, 2nd shot is played
by the player with the wood, the 3rd shot is played by the player with the iron,
4th shot is played by the player with the putter. You then continue playing in
this order for the rest of the game.
5. The player with the club following the player who putted into the hole, must
then tee off. i.e the wood putted in, the iron will tee off.
6. If a player putts to the hole and misses, then the next player must putt using
their allocated club. You MUST putt out
E.G. If the player with the iron chips into the hole, the player with the putter
must then tee off the next hole. The player with the driver will then take the
2nd shot, the player with the wood will take the 3rd shot and the player with the
iron will take the 4th shot, the player with the putter takes 5th shot and so forth.
Players must stay in the order until the hole has been completed..
7. If a player hits into a bunker, the team MUST take a drop out of the bunker
and incur a 1 shot penalty. The next player in turn takes the next shot (not the
person who put the ball in the bunker.
8. 2 Teams of 4 will play together.
