Didn’t go to plan last weekend. Had great pace on Saturday which surprised me as I’m one of few to have never driven the track previously. Qualified in 2nd, however was left frustrated as my fastest lap was blocked, but that’s racing. Race 1, had a terrible start and ended up in the gravel twice due to other drivers (once again, that’s racing). In race 2 and 3, I just struggled for grip and couldn’t do anything to match the guys in front. Thanks to Matt and Steve for all their time and effort they put in. Qualifying: 2nd
Race 1: 10th
Race 2: 4th
Race 3: 5th

Finished the year strong!

Managed two podiums last weekend at Hampton Downs. In qualifying, I got a good lap in early on to get my first front row start. Race 1 started well where the leader and I pulled two seconds in the first two laps. I made a small mistake which dropped me off the leader but held on for 2nd. In race 2, I had an awesome battle for the lead however came up just 0.082 off the win. Race 3 was going strong, up until some confusion on the safety car restart which dropped me from 2nd to the mid pack. However I made a few passes and finished 5th. Up to 3rd in the championship, just 2 points off 2nd, from 6th.

The last laps of Pukekohe in a Formula First.
Great weekend for the team, getting my first podium in the class! Race 1 was a terrible start by me, which dropped me to 14th after turn 1. However, I worked my way back up the field to 6th. In race 2, I had an awesome battle for 2nd with 5 other cars. Couldn’t quite get all of them and finished in 3rd. Race 3 did not go quite as well, we had clutch issues before the race and unfortunately it was something that we couldn’t fix at the track. I still held on for 7th.
Huge thanks to Matt, Steve and Dad for the late nights on the car prior to the event. Without these three, I wouldn’t have been competing.
