PRACTICE DAY THIS WEEKEND????

If anyone is interested in a practice day this weekend – then let me know, by commenting below stating which day – this SAT or SUN or a day during the week. For the top two days I will open. But I can only do afternoons.

The weather hasn’t been kind to our obstacles – blowing them down and all around. But I’ll set up a course and you can always put up others if you want to.

Learn from one of the most experienced Working Equitation coaches in Australasia!
Sarah Blackburn is coming to Tangimoana for 1 day - November 3rd.

Sarah has been a full-time coach and trainer for over 15 years. She is a Grade One Coach, has an ESI Diploma in Equitation Science and is a B Level WEDU Judge. Here’s how Sarah describes her journey:
“In 2011 I came across a video of a man riding a grey horse around a course of obstacles. The harmony between horse and rider was breath-taking. Every movement appeared effortless. The man was Working Equitation world champion, Pedro Torres, riding the legendary Lusitano stallion, Oxidado. From that moment I was hooked on Working Equitation.
Sharing this wonderful sport with the rest of New Zealand is my passion and since my first clinic in 2013, I have introduced hundreds of riders to Working Equitation.
I also have a special interest in Classical Dressage, correct horse and rider biomechanics, and positive reinforcement training.”

This is seriously not to be missed
A One day Clinic – 9.30am – 4.30pm, Tuesday 3rd November - $150
Clinic participants will each choose an obstacle in advance — Sarah will prepare progressive training exercises for each obstacle chosen, plus others as time permits. There will be the option to ride a full course at the end of the day, judged by Sarah, with a guided course walk.

To secure a place on the clinic, please comment below or PM me (send a friend request if needed so I don’t miss you). The clinic will be allocated on a first in / first served basis. Your payment in full will confirm your place and must be received by Friday October 2nd. Cost $150 for the full day, includes arena fee. Auditors welcome, $30.

A wait list will be held if we are over-subscribed. If you pay but later have a legitimate reason to cancel, such as an unexpected lameness or injury, I will make every effort to find someone to take your place and reimburse you.

Practice days
Schedule for this weekend!
I will also ride both days to help explain the obstacles and field any questions.

Saturday 1:30 – 3:00: Carol Wrathall, Joni Reynolds, Jean Vanags, Jodie Munn
Sunday 1:30 – 3:00: Donna Mathews, Cindy Humphers, Jo-anne Sinclair, Suzy Jackson
If we get heavy rain the night before or forecasted on the day, we will cancel. Watch the skies and watch this space.
I will have a flag out so you can see the entrance – which is opposite the recycling bins, the entrance is behind a slight rise so keeps eyes open for the flag and recycle centre. If you miss it don’t worry there is plenty of room to turn around. Any questions please PM me. Arena fee $5

Working Equitation has 4 phases. This is an example of the speed phase.

There is also:

A dressage phase that is similar to regular dressage test.

Ease of handling – an obstacles course with dressage as it’s criteria, Such as - halts square, transitions, flying changes, correct lead etc.

Speed phase – an obstacle course similar to ease of handing but marked on time – with defaults for knocking things over and sometimes reduced time for preforming an obstacle correctly.

Finally there is a stock phase – which is working/moving stock – I don’t believe any clubs in NZ or Australia use this phase. – I might be wrong.
