Bookings are now open for our October School holiday horse riding camps.
All riding is fully supervised, fun, and educational.
Riders enjoy learning everything from the correct way to catch, groom, saddle, bridle, mount, and basic control of the horse to Dressage, Show Jumping, and Cross Country for experienced riders. Enjoy a mix of lessons and trekking.

Weekend 2 days / 2 nights from $210 child

Suitable for 8 - 18-year-olds.
Kowhai is an attractive alternative to private ownership.
Regular riders can join Pony Club, sit certificates, go to competitions, and enjoy riding in a safe country environment.
Adult riding lessons are available Tuesday to Friday outside School Holiday times and private lessons at your place in Rangiora or surrounding areas on Thursdays or by arrangement.
Kowhai is 11km West of Oxford, 75km from Christchurch.

Kowhai has been running horse riding courses on our farm at Oxford since 1969 and has over 70 well-schooled horses and ponies available. Kowhai's weekend and School Holiday courses are a great alternative to private horse ownership. Courses run most weekends throughout the year and all School Holidays. Kowhai has a private shuttle from Christchurch on Friday & Sunday evenings.
(Airport transfers are also available)

📢 Waimakariri Gorge Bridge road works

The Waimakariri Gorge Bridge will be closed from 7pm-5am Wednesday 14 Thursday 15 and Friday 16 January and 9am-3pm 21 January for road works.

The work is weather dependent, so if it's raining or there are high winds and works cannot be carried out, the night works will be carried out on 19 and 20 January and the day works on 22 or 23 January.
