After our first win of the season last weekend the Swamp Hens welcome Clutha to town with the Art Bloxham Cup on the line. 2008 is a long time between drinks so you won't want to miss our first win over the Steamers since then TODAY.

Our Premier Swamp Hens are playing their first home game of the season tomorrow against Toko. This match is massive for many reasons.

We have two memorial trophies on the line including the Dean Miller Memorial which once again gets to be contested by Daniel Miller who will lead the Hens out into battle.

The next piece of motivation goes to Craig McCormick who plays his 100th match for the Hens tomorrow. Craig first entered the fray thanks to Stuart Kelly who pushed him Owaka's way and he and his awesome family have become a part of the Owaka rugby furniture. Craig drives past at least two other rugby clubs to get to Owaka training twice a month which shows his utmost commitment and love for the Owaka Club, players, and supporters alike.

We can't wait to go to war tomorrow!

Apologies,

We have been a touch tardy on the updates this season. It has been a busy time behind the scenes. GREAT NEWS! We did indeed manage to wrangle some players together and have entered a team in the Southern Region Rugby competition yet again.

Our final match in the pre-season resulted in a 41-12 win over our brothers from Strath Taieri which saw us retain the precious Jake Tisdall Memorial Shield.

Our first hit out of the season was last Thursday night in Heriot where we came ever so close to one of the competition front runners this season with a 25-20 loss in a match that showed all the ticker and heart that Owaka footy is built on.

We will endeavour to keep you all informed and up to date on premier happenings going forward including a MASSIVE fixture coming up this weekend in more ways than one!

If you are still on the fence regarding playing, don't be. We need you! See you Tuesday at 6:50pm.

We host Tokanui today in our first hit out of the pre-season. Our small, but dedicated group have been training well and are fizzing to hit the pitch.

We are still extremely light on numbers with our competition life still very much on the line.

Kickoff is at 2:30pm. We are meeting around 1:15pm for anyone who wants to come and put the boots on for the Hens.

Tough times at Swamp Hen Park.

The Owaka Premier Rugby team is in dire straits. No beating around the bush. We currently have 18 players on paper (some yet to attend training) and we are desperately in need of some more players to bolster our numbers so we can give this season another hot crack.

The core group of players we have are looking fit and strong and will be competitive. We just need more cattle. We are looking for ANYONE who wants to give the Swamp Hens a chance this season. Any ability, any place, flick us a message an we can help you out I'm sure.

We are training on Tuesday's and Thursday's at the Owaka Recreational Ground at 7:00pm sharp.

We have set a deadline for Thursday the 12th of March to decide the fate of the team. That means there are three trainings left (5th, 10th & 12th of March) to get along and meet the team. Even those who have said they are coming that haven't yet, get along and see the lads.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

January has come around all too qu**ky with eye firmly set on pre-season training which is just around the corner.

The ORFC Prem side calls all players and management for an informal get together on Friday the 9th of January at the Owaka Golf Club for a few holes and a couple of cold refreshments.

We are aiming to meet at 6:30pm and go from there! Bring a friend.

2026 is the Year of the Hen!
