We held the Campbell Regatta this weekend and had a great turnout from the Bluff Yacht Club. They came up with 9 boats and a chase boat which was great. Also thanks to Noel and Miles who came down from Dunedin to join us as well. Attached are some phots of the sailing, again thanks for making it a most enjoyable Regatta.

Hi All
Please see below the programme for the up coming season.

Closing Day at the Owaka Yacht club turned to disaster for the 3 skippers that ventured out.
Firstly Johnathon and Annette launched their Noelex 22, motored to the middle of the channel - then tried to get their main up - unfortunately they couldn't get it up and had to motor back to shore with their tails between their legs - it was mentioned that there are little blue pills that may help!
Secondly Graeme and Johnathon launched Graeme's Hartley 16. They sailed out into the channel , were hit by a small gust and their mainsail promply fell down - seems as though Graeme has to go back to the drawing board and learn how to tie knots that don't come undone. To make matters worse he didn't have his motor on so they ended up paddling back to shore.
Finally fearless Phil turned up 30min late and proceeded to rig his boat, got halfway through rigging when he realised he had left his rudder and centre plate at home!
So all in all not a very successful days sailing.
The beers (and gin) that followed along with the BBQ was much more enjoyable - till next season enjoy the winter.

Had a good days sailing today with 5 boats venturing out onto a windy Hinahina estuary. A steady breeze of about 15 knots with gusts to over 20 knots. The crews were sailing a hartley 16, 3 sunbursts and a 3mYoung.
Two minutes before the start the husband and wife team of Johnathon and Annette White capsized and pulled out of the race due to being unable to get back in their yacht.
The race got underway with 4 starters. After rounding mark 2 the Harley 16 crewed by Gareme Storer and Brian Hutton ran aground, followed closely by Lachie Campbell and Murray Bichan in their sunbursts. Phil Bradfield in his Young managed to miss hitting the bottom there as he was a wee way back and didn't follow them.
Murray then noticed his forestay screws working themselves loose and he had a quick swim also. He made some running repairs (he managed to get back in his yacht) and continued on.
Once all were back floating they managed to complete the course.
1st - Graeme & Brian - Hartley 16
2nd - Murray - sunburst
3rd - Lachie - sunburst
4th - Phil - young
5th - DNS - Johnny & Annette
All in all a good days sailing.
Next sailing day is Closing day - 1st May 1500 start BBQ to follow racing. Families most welcome.
