The lovely photos from Stirrup and Stone have come through.
Equine-America NZ limited Horowhenua Dressage Group - Public Page winter series.
A weekend of first for both boys.
Darcy came to me to be brought back into work after a year off with injury.
He is on the Equine-America biotin extra.
This was his first overnight show.
In the prelim level he exceeded all expectations winning the 1B test with a 68%. a little tired and heavy for his second test 1D, still scoring 66% for 3rd. He coped well with being yarded overnight and worked well round the other horses.
Trigger was thrown a little in the deep end as was his first time being ridden off the property since loosing his eye. Let alone at a show.
He was a bit nervous/ tense when ridden on Saturday night.
Remembering the gun shots from last year. As his hearing has been heightened since loosing a sense, any noise in that direction put him in high alert.
Luckily he wasn't on till Sunday arvo so was able to take him out a few times between Darcy tests.
Warm up was still a little tense but he did settle. The first test unfortunately was track left at C, which made the side of the arena on his blind side. Poor boy went all the way down trying to turn and look at it.
By the second test he was starting to relax and know where the arena was to the point he stopped in his medium walk to scratch his leg! 🤣 needless to say he got a 3 for that movement.
But it wasn't about the scores for him he's learnt alot and proud of how hard he tried and was able to relax by the end.
Thank you to number 1 Groom Lorraine Brownie keeping me on track, feed and watered can't do it without your help
Thank you to the horses owners Julia Edgar & Linda Cunningham for trusting me with you beautiful horses.
Lastly thank you to everyone who makes these days possible, committee, judges, stewards, scores etc
