The Ōtaki Outlaws kicked off their winter interclub season today with a 1-7 loss to Maungaraki 2.

The overall scoreline did not reflect the very close scorelines in most of the matches, and the team is looking good for the upcoming 8 fortnightly ties.

Pictured from the Outlaws squad are today's players: Jess Singleton, James Kynaston, Elyse Williams and Cam Graham.

Jess Lemana and Nikora Te Wiata are the other two squad members.

Ōtaki Purutaitama yesterday played Ōhau Football Club, the new club in Horowhenua-Kāpiti football, and took out the match with a dominant 5-0 win.

Great to play you, Ōhau FC, in your first season as a club, and all the best for growth and success in future seasons.

(Thanks to Frank Neill for the photos.)

A beautiful mild winter evening last night, with junior tennis training filling the courts and junior football training packing out the pitches.

So good to see. Go Ōtaki! 😍

And yay for our awesome volunteer coaches, parent assistants, and solar-powered outdoor floodlighting. Ōtaki Sports Club rocks!!

This is what evening winter tennis looks like ... beanies, puffer jackets and a few tough roosters in shorts! Playing under our awesome floodlights :)

Congrats to Tom B (left) for winning our six-week Fast Four mixed doubles event that ended last night and well played to Elyse (second right) for her close-as 2nd place.

Yes, that is last year's photo (photographer dude, you only had one job last night!), but the temperature and most of the the faces were the same all over again and tennis was the winner! 🎾😃🥶🤪

What does the first win of the season look like for the Ōtaki Kāeaea women's team? Amazing graphics tracking a whole lot of mahi and effort. Shout out to Haley for 2 goals, to Chels for 1 goal, to Ngaire for assists, to Janneke for amazing saves, to Nina for being speedy and to Brent for being a choice coach. Aimee was player of the day. Ka rawe.

Last night in Wellington we lined up as a finalist (for the fifth year in a row!!) in the Tennis Capital Coast annual club of the year awards.

We won in 2022 and 2025 and last night we were stoked to see our Kapi Mana mates down the way Whitby Tennis Club take home the award.

Congrats too to Adam for winning Volunteer of the Year last night.

The judges said Adam's achievements last season merited the win. They included getting our new solar power system financed and installed; creating and running the first-ever Ōtaki inter-schools tennis competition; completing the International Tennis Federation Development Coach professional qualification; organising the club's centenary celebrations; and putting in the long hours over summer to keep Ōtaki tennis humming.

Pictured are club members Jess, Adam and James at the awards event last night in the Renouf Tennis Centre.
