Morrocco Arabians

Morrocco Arabians We breed, grow, train and compete on registered purebred arabian horses.

The Morrocco Arabians breeding programme is based predominantly on bloodlines imported from the USA. The horses are grown in an ideal moderate climate on the southern west coast of the North Island of New Zealand, on our property in sunny Otaki. They are handled as babies and then allowed to grow as horses in their own right on lush green pastures with plenty of space. At the age of around three,

our extensive training programme begins - a programme that suits the unique attributes of this breed of horse. We use modern, positive training techniques that result in the ability of each horse to perform to its optimum in the sport of endurance or the show ring, using just a rope halter.

It’s fair to say that the 2025 DRNZ Championships were a true test of endurance, not only physically but mentally.
Greg & SS Silas successfully completed their second 160km together, in an epic ride time of 19hrs 25mins. Battling dramatic weather & big country, a true test of horsemanship was shown.
This is Gregs second 160km buckle and Silas’ 5th 160km completion, giving him a 100% completion rate over that distance.
Silas has competed in 7/8 DRNZ Championships with the following results:
120km Youth Winner
160km Senior Q
160km Senior Winner
160km Senior Winner
160km Senior Q
120km Senior Winner
160km Senior Q
One incredible horse 🐎

Well what a weekend! Another Championships and another season over
And what a mixed bag it was!

Saturday didn’t go as planned for our team, with Shiloh unfortunately vetting out after loop 2 (80kms) of the 160kms due to icy conditions, and JayDee getting line honours in the 160km, only to not pass the final vetting.

With even colder conditions on Sunday, Silas had a very enjoyable 120kms. This horse was amazing all day and took out the 120km Enduro Championship title, to make that his 3rd Championship title in 4 years.

All in all a great weekend away with family, horses and friends - until next time 🥂
