🌺 Community Hero Shoutout 🌺

This is what Arai Roa whānau is all about 💛

During the wild weather, one of our whānau reached out needing help with leaks in her home — a stressful situation for anyone.

Without hesitation, Dillon jumped in to help, heading straight over after finishing another job to make sure everything was okay 🙌

That kind of care, quick action, and willingness to show up for others is what makes this community so special.

He waka eke noa — we’re all in this together 🌊

Thank you Dillon for being an absolute legend 💪

⚠️ Weather Update Whānau – Stay Safe ⚠️

Noema & Jack have anchored down the rigs in preparation for the weather coming through. Please make sure you’ve secured items around your homes, moved anything loose from decks, and ensured pets are safely inside or secure 🐾

With safety first, tomorrow’s water session (āpōpō) is cancelled 🌊

🌀 Cyclone Safety Tips

• Bring in or secure outdoor furniture, trampolines & loose items
• Charge phones & power banks
• Have torches, batteries & supplies ready
• Keep pets safe and indoors where possible
• Avoid unnecessary travel during strong winds
• Check in on neighbours, kaumātua & those who may need extra support
• Keep updated with local weather advice

If anyone in our community needs support during the weather, please reach out — we have a number of Arai Roa members on standby and happy to help where we can 🫶🏽

It might also be a good day for:
🏡 A home workout
🍪 Baking with the whānau
🃏 A game of cards together

Take care and stay safe whānau
He waka eke noa 🌺

🌺 Update for today, Whānau 🌺

Gosh!!! I’m afraid the truck isn’t going to be ready, so the W1 session at Big Oneroa won’t be going ahead.

Looks like it might be a good excuse to put the feet up, take the dog for a walk, or even bake some cheese scones for lunch āpōpō 🤩

Sometimes the tides (and the trucks!) have other plans — we’ll be back on the water soon enough 🌊

Enjoy the downtime and take care, whānau 🌺

🌊 Training Update – Tuesday & Thursday 🌊

Friendly heads up whānau — those pesky low tides are back again, so water sessions for Tuesday & Thursday evening are cancelled ❌

Another option may be available depending on conditions:
🛶 W1 (single) session at Big Oneroa
🕟 4:30pm

If you’re interested, kōrero mai (let us know) so we can see who’s keen 🙌

Even when the tides aren’t in our favour, we’ll always look for ways to keep connected to the moana 🌊

Beautiful morning to be out on the moana 🙌

🌊 Training Update, Whānau 🌊

Morena whānau 🌺

Due to low tides, there will be no water session today.

Coach is also feeling a bit māuiui (unwell), so we’re taking it easy. If things improve, we may run a dry land session instead — focusing on rigging the canoe and learning the different parts of the waka 🛶

A solid plan to keep everyone learning and connected to Tangaroa, even off the water 🌊

👇 Drop a 💛 to send some aroha
Drop a 🛶 if you’re keen for a dry land session

🌊 Training Update, Whānau 🌊

Morena koutou, just a friendly heads-up that we’re hitting the pause button on training today and on the 12th due to the tides.

Take the time to relax and recharge, and we’ll look forward to seeing everyone back on the water for Saturday evening’s session 🙌

Enjoy the rest and stay safe, whānau 🌺

🌊 What a Weekend on the Moana 🌊

What a beautiful couple of sessions this weekend with our Arai Roa whānau 💛

Smiles, teamwork, learning, laughter, and time out on the water — he rā pai i runga i te moana. From our tamariki building confidence to our adults strengthening skills and connections, it was awesome to see everyone out there together.

Moments like these remind us that waka ama is about more than paddling — it’s about whānau, culture, and belonging.

He waka eke noa — we are all in this waka together 🌊

Ngā mihi nui to everyone who came along and made the sessions so special. Your energy and support keep our kaupapa strong.

Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui.
Be strong, be brave, be steadfast.

Mauri ora, Arai Roa whānau 🌺

👉 Both Adult & Tamariki sessions will now be COMBINED.
