What better way to spend time with family and/or friends than riding alongside Lake Benmore, across terrain that was once only trodden on by livestock, getting up a bit of a sweat to earn that beer or wine at the before being transferred back through to Omarama to stay the night and gaze at the stars while soaking in a ?

When the weather isn't on your side, good old kiwi ingenuity allows you to develop a new wave of wet weather cycling gear: tinfoil inside the helmet, plastic bags over socks and rubber gloves over the cycling gloves. The rain will not deter this fun-focused group!

As long as I have my bunny I don't need an ebike. Although I hear Trail Adventures have a nice new bunch of Norco ebikes that are just as cool as my ride.

The A2O was a fantastic adventure and Trail Adventures’ service was outstanding. We rode the trail as an extended family group, with our youngest member being just 14 months old. There was a lot for us to think about and plan and right from our first contact Aimee was incredibly helpful, supportive and positive. Our whole experience was great. Obviously the trail itself is fantastic, passing through interesting towns, stunning scenery and providing plenty of challenge. Everything about the infrastructure that Trail Adventures wrapped around us was first class, from the itinerary planning to the bikes, shuttles, accommodation and even daily check ins. Vaughan gave us a very friendly welcome when he collected us from the airport and got us kitted out with bikes and gear. A special mention too, to our shuttle driver Brian who ferried us and our luggage around for the week with good humour and local knowledge. I highly recommend Trail Adventures as your A2O trail partner.

Omarama needs your support! We are a wee town 1.5 hours from the nearest hospital. We've got an awesome first response team who can get to us in minutes but unfortunately they're often not sent unless it's life threatening. This means someone might be managing their situation alone and in pain for hours before an ambulance arrives. I know I never want to experience that and don't want other locals or our cyclists to have to experience it either.

If you've got a few spare minutes we would love it if you could sign the petition to support our wonderful community.

Petitions are addressed to the House of Representatives and ask that the House do something about a policy or law, or put right a local or private concern.

The first four of twelve new e-bikes have arrived safely at the depot. The next few weeks will see them put together and ready to ride!
