FROM OUR BOXING TRAINERS
WAYNE AND JONATHAN FISHER-HEWITT

To the ‘3 wonderful tarts’ Sally-Ann Donnelly, Kate Cartwright and Jan Kennedy:
Your attention to detail was beyond reproach and your determination to make this event a reality was unbelievable. Thank you for inviting us to participate in the inaugural Portside Punch Charity Boxing Event.

To our incredible fitness trainers, Tink, Fekita, Adam and Jae:
Thank you for incorporating boxing routines along with cardio work which helped muscle memory operate on the night when it mattered. To those of you who thought you needed to be fitter, it wouldn’t have made you less exhausted exiting the ring, you would have done more in the ring and been just as exhausted.

To the contenders from day one who put their hands up to compete:
Thank you for making the decision to support the event and make our jobs harder to settle on the final 22 to compete on the night. To be honest after the first boxing session we left thinking we do not have enough time to prepare you to fight, let alone command an entry fee to watch - how wrong were we!! As the weeks progressed (and the skipping improved) we came to the conclusion that we could indeed make this a successful showcase.

People’s impression of the sport is often that is thoughtless and thuggish. You now know, like us, the amount of courage it takes to step through those ropes. With nowhere to hide and no one to help you outthink your opponent once you are in the ring. Win or lose we were so proud that on the night it mattered, you all displayed courage and the skills you learnt. To us you are all winners.

We are grateful to live in such a supportive community where the event was showcased in front of a sell-out crowd.

We salute you one and all! Thank you for the memories and friendships gained along the way.

Wayne and Jonathan Fisher-Hewitt

An amazing team who have raised a considerable sum for a great charity event.

Photos taken on site at the Woolstore using local lighting or a cell phone as a light source.

All these guys had just finished training and were kind enough to pose for a few seconds whilst I photographed them.
