Report from Andrew for NZDC Youth Championships: Auckland 2022
Theo Hanagan and I represented Region 15 at this national competition, which was held at West City Darts in Auckland. I did not qualify in the singles unfortunately – a bad day at the office! Last minute change for me in the youth pairs as Tea Goodman was not able to attend. I played with Theo from Otago and we got to the top 16 pairs. We played well but were outclassed by Bailey Day and Apanui Kaiwai from Region 4) who went on to finish in second place overall after an exciting finish with Region 7.
The guys from up north played some impressive darts. (Updated as information we were provided was incorrect).
I would like to specially thank Theo for pairing up with me. I always like playing with and against you in events because you are a true sportsman and not to mention a very good dart player so thanks Theo and congratulations on making the top 16 players in the singles. Awesome darts.
Thank you to Peggy, Trixie and all the NZDC officials (sorry I could not remember all your names) for the running of the event. Special thanks to Ken Wilson for making sure I was registered and for helping mum and dad with all the information they needed to get me to Auckland. I appreciated all the hard work each of you gave to help not just me but every one of us that went.
Cheers, Andrew Sinclair
