Yesterday (Saturday 5th September) we had the opening of our croquet season followed by a pot luck lunch. The sun was shining and we had interesting games as many of us had not held a mallet since the end of the season!
We were privileged to have 2 life members Joan Robb and Ethel Johnston to play the first balls.

Awamoa Gardens Croquet Club is situated on Awamoa Road opposite the Awamoa Playing fields.

We have 5 croquet lawns and approximately 60 members.

Two forms of Croquet are played: Association Croquet, the traditional game and Golf Croquet a shorter game which is played by the majority of players.

The Club Season runs from the beginning of September to the end of April.

Awamoa Gardens Croquet Club is affiliated to Croquet NZ and is a member of the South Canterbury Association which extends from Oamaru to Ashburton.

The Club fields competition teams in both Association Croquet and Golf Croquet competing with other teams around South Canterbury.

Members may choose to play competitively or on a social level. Club days are held three times weekly Saturdays 9.30am – 12.00pm, Monday mornings 9.30am – 12.00pm and Wednesday afternoons 12.45pm – 3.00pm.

Our opening day is Saturday August 29th after a very long winter. It will be great to get out into the sunshine 3 days a week.
