REMINDER
This event has been postponed indefinitely, due to Government Red light settings, we can no longer run this event effectively and at capacity.

We hope to run either end of this year OR next summer.
So again, the event is NO LONGER ON THIS WEEKEND.

***EVENT UPDATE***

Due to the Governments announcement yesterday that NZ is moving into the Red traffic light setting.
We have made the unfortunate decision to postpone our Beach 5's Rugby Festival indefinitely.

With player numbers alone being over 100 people, adding in Spectators, sponsors, volunteers and support staff. Would mean our gathering size is too big for the Governments rules.

We are of course gutted with the decision, the team has done a lot of work to get to this point and we are saddend that we cannot provide players, sponsors and Spectators with the tournament they were looking forward to.

We do not know how long we will be in the Red setting, so for now, we have decided to delay until at least November/December this year or Summer 2023 next year.

We would like to thank our sponsors for supporting us so far CMK Chartered Accountants, Shining Peak Brewing, Little Rocket, Tsunami Sport Ltd. and the many other businesses and organizations including Venture Taranaki, New Plymouth District Council, Taranaki Rugby and many others who have helped us out so far.

We are grateful for your support, we will be back in the future!!

Lastly, we would like to thank all the teams and players who registered this year.
Sport doesn't happen without your commitment and we look forward to having you play when we do get the chance to host you!!

LAST WEEKEND FOR ENTRIES!
Final weekend for entries in our inaugural Beach 5's Rugby Festival.

Looking forward to the event on Waitangi Weekend, 5th & 6th February, with our draw looking pretty good it would be awesome to have a couple more teams enter to fill out the draw.

With Music, Food Carts, Grandstand seating, some superb Beach Rugby action and much more, the event is going to be amazing for Spectators and Players alike.
We will start releasing program schedule next week and a few ways for you to be in to win!

A couple of questions I've been asked about Beach Rugby so far:
-What are the rules for Beach Rugby 5's??
-Is there scrums/lineouts??
-Is it tackle? (Definitely tackle :) )

Here is a video made by our cousins across the ditch at Beach Rugby Australia.
It covers most of the basic rules, there will be a few variations of these rules at our tournament that will go out to teams beforehand, however the video gives an insight into what to expect.

Entries are now open for our first ever Taranaki Beach 5's Rugby Festival set for Waitangi weekend 2022.

This fun, exciting format of the game we all love, will be held at Oakura Beach on Waitangi Weekend, 5th & 6th February.

There is limited entry spaces, 16 mens teams and 8 womens teams for our first annual event so get your entry in ASAP to confirm your spot. It will be a first in first served basis for entries and entries close 15th January.

-12 players per team, 5 on the pitch at a time.
-5 minute halves of leg burning competitive footy action.
-No scrums or lineouts, tap and go restarts.
-Full rules list will be sent to all entered teams.

Friday 4th February will be a meet and greet night before tournament.
Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th game day.
After party Sunday night.
All teams will play same amount of games no matter where you finish in tournament.
