While our Seniors are still snoozing these little ones from J8 are the first teams to kick off on a Saturday Morning!

Huge kudos to the parents for getting them fed and watered before they take the paddock at 8am!!

Saturday 23 May Match Report - cuteness overload - Barp Barp!!

J8 Takapuna Black vs Takapuna Silver

With the first game against familiar faces of another Takapuna team, the J8 Black team were very excited to start the game - especially with the fluro colors on.

From the opening kickoff, both teams delivered outstanding defensive performances, refusing to give up an early try.

With the occasional fend, modified goose step and parents ushering the players back into the field of play, both teams entertained the supporters watching for the entire game.

Taka Black players made fantastic passes to each other, and scoring some incredible tries. Every week, the team plays better as a team.

On Defense, the players made some amazing rips, forcing the other team to use their full rip count.

The score was not recorded. However, all players appeared to have a great time.

Nine Years ago on Saturday 8 July 2017 the Mighty TRFC hosted the Premier Quarter Final against North Shore. Not only a must win game to secure a Semi Final spot it was also the 200th game for Jon Elrick (JL)

A momentous achievement for JL and a fantastic 31-19 win to the Blue & Gold over the Green and White.

We take a sneaky look back at the Day (including a video taken the night before the big game), the playing 22, JL running out onto Number One and the scoreboard (gold!!).

Now it’s 2026 and JL is on track for 250 Premier Games for Taka!!

Exciting games of Footy for the Mighty TRFC today.
Clutch win to the Barfoot & Thompson Prem Ones over Massey and the Big Willie Trophy comes home!

Excellent victories to Swift Media Prem Two, Swift Roofing U21s and U19s looked smart against Varsity.

Tough last few minutes for the Alexander Scrap Metal U85s with a 2 point loss but a much improved performance out on Number One today.

TRFC will see another Auckland Club head over the Bridge when Varsity turn up to play our U19s tomorrow, followed by our U85s v Bays at 2.45pm

The Prems (One & Two) will travel to Moire Park where the Big Willie Trophy will be up for grabs, our U21s will be at Silverdale along with the Guerillas.

Congrats to Tika Lelenga who will run our for his 50th Premier Cap, an awesome achievement for a guy who has got us out of many a jam over the years!! Good Stuff Tika, you do you tomorrow! 💪

It was with the greatest of pleasure that this afternoon we presented Norm Brown with a TRFC Life Membership.

Norm has been part of Takapuna Rugby since the Taharoto Days (82yrs plus) - he's played footy, managed footy, been behind the bar, propped up the bar and it's a very rare Saturday not to see him in the Clubrooms with a Pint!

This is a long overdue honour, Norm represents all it is to be a Life Member - he's a gentleman, a mate, and we love him!!
