🌟 Wall of Fame Spotlight 🌟
Continuing our celebration of HPC’s sporting history, we highlight Alan Webster.
Alan was a talented rower who earned selection in the New Zealand Rowing Team in 1961, going on to represent his country throughout the 1960s.
He was a member of the New Zealand men’s eight that won a silver medal at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth, a significant achievement on the international stage.
Alan also represented New Zealand at two Olympic Games, competing in the men’s eight at Tokyo 1964 and Mexico City 1968, where the crew finished an impressive fourth.
His success came during an era when rowing demanded immense dedication, with far fewer resources than today, making his achievements all the more notable.
We’d love to hear any memories, stories or connections to Alan, please share them in the comments below.
