Well Springtime is here and the Bowling season has arrived. It’s only seven days to go and New Plymouth Bowling Club will be having our opening day. Saturday 19th September - 12 Noon. Men v Women (Drawn Teams) - Everyone most welcome - For those of you who have not visited an outdoor bowling club now is the time to come along and find out what lawn bowls are all about. Great summer sport to enjoy the outdoors and make new friends.

Could members please wear uniform and bring along a plate for afternoon tea.

We are situated at 157 Brooklands Road, New Plymouth.
A great friendly Club who will always make new members most welcome. Come along and have some fun and see how great our facilities are.

Subs for the 2026/2027 year are as follows:

Full Playing Member $150.00
Dual Member $150.00
Restricted $ 60.00
1st Year Playing $ 50.00
Youth Player $ 20.00
Social Member $ 20.00

Our Club Rooms are available for Private Functions. Please contact our Secretary/Treasurer Red Robertson - 027 233 7574 for full details regarding availability and associated hireage charges.

An excellent day of bowls had today by seven of our ladies who ventured out to Lepperton to play in the annual Cancer Tournament. The weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky and noticed that there was even a bit of sunburn amongst some of the ladies - Yeah summers on its way - There was plenty of fun and laughs had by all and a lovely afternoon tea provided by the Lepperton Ladies at the end of play. Overall it was a great day.

The Ladies had their second winter luncheon today at Gustos. A good turnout which was very pleasing, good company and plenty of talking was done amongst us all. The meals were very nice - Can certainly recommend. Thank you to you all for attending these lunches - Always good to get together for a good old catchup.

The Club had its AGM this morning with a good turn out of members which was good to see. - A great surprise for Val McEldowney who was awarded with Life Membership - Val is a very dedicated member of the Club and has put in many years of hard work - Certainly well deserved. Wade Donovan who did not stand for President this year due to work commitments was thanked for his work over the last couple of years.

What a beautiful afternoon we had today for the Club’s Closing Day/presentation of Trophies - A great turnout of members for a very enjoyable afternoon -We started off with a small Mixed Fours Tournament kindly sponsored by Stumble Inn. Three games of six ends followed by afternoon tea and then the Presentation of Trophies for the year was completed.

The Club had a great season this year overall considering the crap weather we had at the beginning of the season. We did manage to get most of our competitions completed so that was pleasing - It was nice to get new members who have fitted in to the Club really well. Big thanks to everyone who has helped out with various things during the season - This is always most appreciated - Without your help the Club would not run so smoothly.

The winners for the afternoon tournament were as follows:

Winners: Val McEldowney, Jeff Blyde, Gael Keighley & Eldon Peters
Runners Up: Geoff Helms, Carolyn Batchelor, Grayson McEldowney & Wade Donovan
