BNZ HOOPS IN PARKS IS COMING TO WAITARA

There’s a brand-new place to shoot some hoops at Pennington Park Waitara, and we’re kicking things off with an afternoon of basketball, BBQ and good vibes.

Come along on Saturday 19 September, 1.00pm–3.30pm to celebrate the opening of the new hoops as part of BNZ Hoops in Parks programme.

What’s happening?

⛹️ Plenty of opportunities to have a go

A big thanks to BNZ, Basketball New Zealand, New Plymouth District Council and Sport Taranaki for helping bring BNZ Hoops in Parks to Waitara.

Tournament Week Results

A strong showing from our Taranaki schools at Tournament Week, with some impressive team and individual results.

Nationals bound:
🏀 NPBHS – 1st, BBNZ Secondary School “AA Zone 3” Boys
🏀 NPGHS – 4th, BBNZ Secondary School “AA Zone 3” Girls
🏀 Ōpunakē High School – 4th, BBNZ Secondary School “A North Island” Boys
🏀 Ōpunakē High School – 4th, BBNZ Secondary School “A North Island” Girls

Individual scoring highlights:
• Kahsia Bailey-Nowell (NPGHS) – 1st in AA Girls (Zone 3), averaging 31.83 points and scoring 191 points
• Lenny Potter (FDMC) – 2nd in average scoring (Zone 3), 3rd overall with 199 points
• Keon Bailey-Nowell - 3rd in average scoring (Central Cup), 3rd overall with 184 points (including ten three pointers in one game)
• Abbey Fleming (SHGC) - Top 5 scorer (Northern Cup)
• Toby Waru (FDMC) – Top 10 overall scorer
• Leeave McDonald (NPBHS) – Top 10 overall scorer
• Tessa Cook (Ōpunakē High School) – Top 10 scorer

And a special mention to our referees:
Arnika Williams-Riding and Jack Brown both had exceptional tournaments and were selected to referee Finals.
