The Fitzroy Cricket Club is situated in the eastern suburbs of New Plymouth and has been in the community for over 50 years. We host two age group representative teams, four senior teams and provide facilities for three local schools. Fitzroy Cricket Club is located on Peringa Park at 111 Clemow Road. The club rooms are situated in the eastern corner of the park and command views across the Waiwhakaiho River valley, Fitzroy Golf Course, Te Rewa Rewa bridge and out to the Tasman Sea. Adjacent to the club rooms is a large amenities facility. On the northern boundary we have a scoring pavilion which services the main grass pitch. The club has two practice nets directly in front of the club rooms. They have had recent refurbishment work done which includes additional artificial turf and new netting. The club has two pitches. One is an artificial and the other is a well maintained grass block with four playing strips. The grass block is the club’s pride and joy and is the envy of many other clubs in the district. It is also frequently used for age group representative cricket. Due to the recent growth of the club we also utilise the artificial wicket at Sacred Heart Girls’ College, who in turn use our grass wicket for key fixtures.

Fitzroy Black headed south this past weekend to take on Midhirst at the picturesque midhirst domain.

Batting first , Fitzroy were slow and steady early on.
Steady left town for awhile , but while slow hung around , so did the wickets.
Early possible stratedgy perhaps from the openeners?
Tight bowling lines and lengths were the order of the first session for midhirst and were able to restrict Black to 1/13 after 11overs which turned into 3/55 at drinks.
Batting with alot of patience , K Biesiek anchored the middle overs and with opener S Blackmore added 102 runs for the 4th wicket.
Steve Blackmore carried his bat for an unbeaten 43 , with Black ending up posting a niggly 144/5.

In reply Black started off the bowling innings needing to apply some early pressure.
Brendan and Josh Kept the opening overs tight , with Midhirst 2/33 after 8.
Through the middle overs it just felt like Black needed "Just one more wicket".
Tight bowling and a couple of catches from Kurt in the field , Black still felt in the contest
thoughout patches.
Alas , 144 was just not enough runs leaving Black searching for the first win of the season still.

K Biesiek 63
S Blackmore 43
C Lusk 9

B Faull 2/17 off 6
K Biesiek 2/31 off 8
S Blackmore 1/37 off 5

Fitzroy Blue were Scheduled to head down south to play Darryl Riddick Builder Hawera United Seniors. Spending all week trying to scramble a team together sadly Blue were unable and had to forfeit. With Hawera still leading the past few seasons forfeits over Fitzroy teams 2-1 , Fitzroy are never happy with being unable to field a team and never make a decision nonchalantly.

Fitzroy Black are home this Weekend to FDMC
Fitzroy Blue are away to Inglewood.

Go well.

JB Burger 125

Rd3: Black had NPBHS Yellow on the ropes with some early tight bowling but , dissapointingly momentium swung in the later stages of the first innings and then tight bowling in reply gave black 0-3 for the start of the season.

This weekend sees Blue away to Hawera and Black Away to Midhirst. Goodluck to both Div 2 Teams.
