Professor Pina Simpson & Professor Carl Moke are Pioneer Grapplers, who lead from the front & were instrumental in helping to establish BJJ in NZ. Both Black Belts are heavily respected in the BJJ/MMA community & continue to be active as officials & referees. Professor Pina established Māori BJJ Nationa

ls in 2014 & revived Whātōtō (Māori Grappling) as a means to connect back to his Tupuna. He also works for the UFC as an Official. This Team has produced multiple National, International & World Champions in various disciplines. Our Association with Tsunami BJJ has created a direct pathway to International exposure for any who show exceptional talent within the Whānaunga. Integrity, Loyalty, Humility,Self-Confidence & Team Work are integrated into our teaching style. Southern Tribes reputation is renowned world wide & offers to work offshore aren't uncommon but our resolve is to stay in Aotearoa, continue to inspire, mentor & changes lives here.
