What a beauty of a day down at Vogeltown Bowling Club for our Senior Singles qualifying – and honestly, if every bowls day was like that, we’d never go home.
We had 10 entries roll up, which made for a cracking atmosphere and plenty of action. The format was simple – win 2 out of 3 and you’re through – but as we all know, simple on paper and stressful on the green are two very different things!
Big shoutout and welcome to Tony McAlevey, who’s joined us after a bit of time away from the greens. It only took him a game or two to dust off the cobwebs, but you can already see that form coming back fast… and once it did, look out! Safe to say he’s going to be a proper handful on the greens this season. Great signs early.
There were some tight battles, a few “how did that miss?!” moments, plenty of banter, and more laughs than complaints. Exactly how club bowls should be.
A massive thank you to our volunteer markers – absolute legends. The day simply doesn’t run without you, and we really appreciate you giving up your time. Also great to see some of our long-serving Vogeltown members popping down to watch and support. Means a lot and keeps the stories (and heckling) flowing nicely.
✅ Qualifiers moving on:
Kevan Kevan Sellers
Conrad Conrad Jagusch
Bob
Dennis Dennis Turner
Adyne
With the post-section draw done:
Conrad picks up the bye
Bob plays Dennis
Adyne and Kevan square off
Some tasty match-ups there – no easy roads from here!
What’s next?
Tuesday night:
Junior Singles start – 5:30pm
Senior quarter-final: Kevan vs Adyne
If you’re floating around and keen to mark a game, come on up – we’ll happily put you to work (and probably shout you a cuppa).
Cheers everyone for making it such a top day. Good bowls, good people, good laughs… can’t ask for much more than that.
