Waahi Taakaro Golf Club - Nelson Report: Women’s Net (Back 9)
Date: 17 June 2026
The women’s field enjoyed spectacular, sunny weather and premium course conditions for their Net competition over the Back 9. The great golfing weather brought out some wonderful ball-striking, though it was a tight race at the top of the leaderboard.
Margaret Parfitt put together a masterful round to claim 1st place, carding a brilliant net 38. She was pushed hard by Heather Carey, who finished a mere shot back with a fantastic net 39 to take 2nd place.
Rounding out the top three was Susan Albert, who carded a net 47 under the ideal afternoon conditions.

Men’s Stableford (Back 9)

A fantastic field of 19 players took to the course under beautiful blue skies and outstanding golfing conditions for the weekly Stableford competition on the Back 9. The immaculate course conditions set the stage for some brilliant scoring and highly competitive play right down the leaderboard.
Taking out the top spot with a stellar performance was John Dryden, who mastered the back nine to card an impressive 21 points. He was closely chased by Paul Tunnicliff, who finished just one point behind on a superb 20 points to secure a clear second place.
Third place went to Todd Halsey with a highly respectable 18 points. Showing just how competitive the field was, a tight three-way tie developed for fourth place, with Noel Shaw, Jack Denton, and Richard Pearson all turning in strong cards of 17 points apiece.

Golden Oldies results for 18/6/26

They was a five-way tie at the top in the latest round of the Worley Trophy played on Thursday (June 18).

No-one played their handicap in the stableford round off the front nine, but Andrew Dean, Warren Green, Dave Huntley, Ray Hopgood and Lloyd Moyle got closest with 17 points each.

Another three golfers - Tom Kennedy, Phil Sellers and Bryan Ramsey - were next on 16 apiece, while Neil Howard and Roma Elkington completed the top ten with 15.

Despite some close shaves, no-one managed a two and the hidden hole was not struck.

Next week (June 25) the Golden Oldies play a par round off the front nine.
