HERstory 2025 Delivers a Stunning Night of Courage, Creativity and Community
Nelson, New Zealand — HERstory 2025, held on December 5 at The Suter Theatre, delivered a truly stunning evening of storytelling, music and connection, leaving audiences deeply moved and inspired. Created and hosted by Caron Proctor, the event once again proved that HERstory is far more than a show; it is a powerful community experience.
The evening opened with an unforgettable performance by Jacquie Boer, who captured the hearts of the entire room from the very first moments. Singing I Want to Break Free, Jacquie immediately set a powerful tone for the night before weaving together spoken word, song and guitar. Her brave and honest story of breaking free invited the audience to pause, breathe and open their hearts.
Next, Rachel Greig took the stage, dazzling the audience with her warmth and vulnerability. She shared the deeply personal story of losing her father at sea, guiding the room through an emotional journey marked by tenderness, humour and reflection. Rachel Greig also introduced The Sparkle Project, leaving many guests quite literally touched with glitter and uplifted spirits.
The audience then leaned in to learn more about Home Share For Her, gaining insight into how the community can support women in meaningful and practical ways.
Following the interval, local real estate agent Kate Bradley joined Caron Proctor on stage to host a lively live auction. A range of generously donated packages went under the hammer, including a bespoke fused glass Koru designed especially for HERstory by local artist Roz Speirs, which sold for over $400. The auction was supported by a raffle and silent auction, with final fundraising totals still being confirmed.
The second half of the show featured a polished and breathtaking performance by Becky Siame, supported by her talented musicians. Becky Siame spoke powerfully about belonging and finding her voice, and her artistry elevated the entire production, leaving the audience mesmerised.
The evening closed with Renata Harper, who shared her powerful story of a life-changing breast cancer diagnosis, her deep faith, prayer and unwavering commitment to health and fitness.
As always, the night ended with a joyful dance, celebrating another successful HERstory. The event stood as a collective experience, with speakers, audience and production team coming together to create a wave of connection, love and inspiration.
Heartfelt thanks go to everyone who made this evening possible, from the speakers and musicians to the generous donors, volunteers and supporters who continue to believe in the HERstory movement.
