Kolie van Zyl
Kolie is the recently appointed Head Coach at the Tasman Tennis Club. Kolie moved to Nelson two years ago with his fiancé Nicole and is very excited to be part of the Tasman tennis community. Kolie grew up in South Africa and tennis has always been a big part of his life. He began tennis in the way many kids do, with a tennis ball against our garage wall, and went on to represent S

outh Africa in Japan, the USA and throughout Africa as a junior tennis player, resulting in being a 3-time national champion. Kolie completed his final year of high school at the Saddlebrook Tennis Academy in Florida, USA where he had the opportunity to play ITF tennis tournaments and played against some of the best players in the world including Andy Roddick, Michael Russell and Thomas Haas. He was also the practice partner for Jennifer Capriati. After high school he travelled for one year playing professional tournaments throughout the world. He then received a full tennis scholarship to the University of Alabama at Birmingham where the team reached a ranking of top eleven, Division One tennis in his junior year of university. Kolie has coached tennis in both Alabama and Boston, USA to people of all ages and abilities over a ten year period. He has also worked with ITF level juniors and travelled with them throughout the USA for tournaments. He was a high performance tennis coach at Bosse Sports and Health Club in Boston for five years. Kolie now calls Nelson home and enjoys all that the region has to offer, especially walking their dog at Tahunanui beach.

Join us for a fun day of social pickleball for all levels as we come together to support two of our much-loved club members on their cancer journey. ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to Six Zero Pickleball for proudly sponsoring our event and for their incredibly generous donation of a premium Six Zero pickleball bag and paddle, which will be up for grabs as part of our fundraising activities! Be sure to bring some extra cash for raffle tickets!

🎾 Thursday Night Competitive Doubles is Here! 🎾

Looking for some quality tennis, strong competition, and a great club atmosphere?

Richmond Tennis Club is launching a Senior Competitive Doubles Night every Thursday evening for players wanting a more challenging doubles experience.

📅 When: Every Thursday
⏰ Time: 6.00pm – 8.00pm (courts available from 5.30pm for warm-up)
📍 Where: Richmond Tennis Club

🏆 Format – King/Queen of the Court

✅ 20-minute rounds
✅ Play first to 4 games (or as many games as possible within 20 minutes)
✅ Winning pair moves up a court
✅ Losing pair moves down a court
✅ New partners each round for plenty of variety and competitive match play

Who is it for?
This session is aimed at higher intermediate to advanced players looking for a more competitive environment than regular social tennis.

💰 Cost
🎾 Members: $4
🎾 Non-members: $8

The weekly fee helps cover tennis balls and court costs.

Whether you're keen to sharpen your doubles skills, get some quality match play, or simply enjoy a competitive evening of tennis with great people, we'd love to see you there!
