Emma Munro Dance

Emma Munro Dance Traditional Highland and Irish Dancing Highland Dancing is a disciplined dance form, similar to Ballet, which finds it's roots in Scotland.

There are ten traditional dances, including the most famous Highland Fling and Sword Dance, performed over a real sword. It is a competitive sport as well as a great way to make lifelong friends. A little info about me:

I started learning Highland Dancing at the age of 4. I completed my examinations and became qualified in 2005. I danced competitively up until I was 22 years old, at which time I moved to the UK.

After 6 years overseas, I returned to New Zealand and became involved in Highland dancing as a judge.

Finally, upon moving to Nelson, I took up the role of competition secretary in the Nelson Highland Dancing Organisation.

Personally, I have two children (2.5yrs and 8months), a loving husband, and a fluffy dog. I am starting to teach so I can give back to the dancing community that has been so great to me over the years.
