END OF AN ERA

This past weekend has been very bittersweet knowing it was going to be my last.

After a lot of thought the decision has been made to step away from TQs. I have had such a blast in this class, first jumping in the seat in 2020 at 21 years old, with zero prior motorsport experience. I have since been lucky enough to run a car with Jeremy Webb (best driver bootcamp ever), road trip all over New Zealand racing with Gavin Chappel, race weekend in and out and meet some seriously cool people. Some of whom will be my friends for life. There is so much TQ racing has given me and thank you to everyone who has gone out of their way to help me. All of my race craft, set up knowledge and experience has come from asking a million questions. I’m pretty proud of how much knowledge I’ve managed to acquire being a solo female TQ team. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to reiterate how grateful I am for the help given to me along the way. You all know who you are- thank you!

Big shout out to Monique Chapman, Ben Morgan and Andrew Farnan who have been the reason why I’ve been able to run a TQ solo. Without these guys I’d be no where!

Sunday at Ellesmere couldn’t have been a more perfect send off for the TQ! Ben has been right there with me for years. Listening to me yap on about my set up issues, helping me fix things and implement my crazy ideas, as well as helping me best he can while also usually racing himself. It was only fitting he got the last skid in the car we built and he drove it stellar! Bringing home the CTRA 3nz. I had so much fun setting up the car with Ben driving.

I’m going to miss racing with the community that the TQ class has become.

But for now, that’s me over and out! 🏁

Thank you so much to the people who have backed me this season and over the past few years. These guys have made it all possible!!

Nelson Update- SI TQ Series Round 3

Well… not the meeting I was hoping for at all ☹️
After collecting a spun car in the first heat with no where to go it felt like I almost hit the sky and following that, hit the track pretty hard.
That was NOT fun and I won’t lie the following races I just aimed to be on the track gaining points after the body got progressively worse through the meeting. I’m not tough enough to push through a tumble that big.

A HUGE thank you to Ben for picking up the slack and doing pretty much everything on the car, there is no way I would have survived the meeting without him.

Thank you also to the Bezett’s for taking points and repping the series- it can be quite confusing if you’re not familiar with the format!

And big shout out to my ‘on call race car advisor’ Andrew Farnan, who despite his dislike for coil suspension, does a pretty good job at w**ding through problems based off of an explanation! Thank you 🙏🏻

Super gutted with the outcome of tonight but that’s racing! It’s very evident that it’s just too hard to both drive and run a series as one person.
Some R&R for both driver and car this week before the last round of the series at Ruapuna next weekend.

Thank you to my sponsors, these guys are what make it all possible.

Ruapuna Update

It was really nice to just have a club night at the track on Saturday. After finding something that worked for the car in Nelson I was keen to try it out at Ruapuna.

I’m absolutely stoked to find it’s working, I have so much more car speed and the car takes full throttle around the whole corner now instead of having to use a heap of throttle control due to lack of grip. It’s nice to have a car that has more speed than the driver for once- I can work with that!

Heat one I went grid 13 to grid 9. It took me a bit to catch up after I followed a car round the high line into turn one and they checked up sending me into the marbles to avoid riding a RR, the car had heaps of corner speed.
Heat two I went from grid 2, I wish I’d had some tape, the sun strike into 3 had me fully blind and I managed to hit the same damn rut every time which cost me the lead on the last lap settling for second.
I started grid 7 for the feature and just mucked around too much behind a slower car before I grew a pair and took the high line. Once in clear air the car was awesome but the front end of the race was too far away by then to catch and I finished up 5th.

There was a lot of fluffing around from me on Saturday taking a bit too long to adjust my driving style but I really feel the car has gone from zero to 100 over the last two meetings. I’d rather kick myself for driving mistakes than be scratching my head on why my car won’t grip up! Thanks to all involved who have helped me w**d through the issue and a huge thanks to Ben for manning the spanners!

Thank you to my sponsors who keep me on the track!

Nelson Update

Welp… good news, I’ve figured it out! Bad news, it’s not the easiest of issues to get around without spending some more money.

Regardless I’m super happy with how the night went. We were running out of household sinks to throw at this car. (I think we’re on the laundry sink?)
The set up should not have worked, but it did. Instead of washing out my rear at apex it was efficiently transferring and finding heaps of grip! I had a solid steering wheel in my hands and I could mostly put it anywhere on a bumpy track without loosing any momentum… so that’s a win!

It took me a bit in the heats to change my driving style, I’m really not used to having a car that’s not dead underneath me! But finishing up 4th in the feature I’m happy. Whether I can figure out how to get it around a tighter track like Ruapuna with my findings is a whole other question.
Congrats to Malakai, Jamie and Cameron for podium, shame I couldn’t pull finger and make it a full C car step.

Thank you to everyone who has helped with this car, I really was getting ready to give up on it. Thank you to team 45c for their help and congrats on 3rd home for the SI Midget Title.

AND… a huge congrats to Peter on his 1NZ! He’s been chasing that number for so long. And to see Lachy pull up 2NZ?! That kid is going places! A mention needs to go to Kohen for his stellar driving- although I’m sure Lachy will find some stunning one liners to throw at him for the next year 😆

Thank you to my sponsors I’m very grateful for their continued support!

Nelson RACEDAY!

Being a new car the decision was made not to run the NZ Title tonight in Auckland.
So I’m here in Nelson trying some stuff to see if I can figure out what direction to go with this car!
Good luck to everyone driving tonight! I’ll be cheering from the trailer!!

Thank you to all of my sponsors!

TQ20!

First time back in the seat for a wee while!
First race went from 12 to 5 and was trying super hard to get past 4th until I tried too hard and cooked it on the last corner of the last lap resulting in a DNF 🤦🏻‍♀️
Second heat went worse, struggling to find grip with the car once again paired with a few gnarly holes started from 5 and finished there.
Feature was a handful, with the DNF in heat one I was off second back. The car just feeling like it had ice skates all night and the track conditions made it a very difficult night! Started near the back and finished up in 7th making a few passes but really not comfortable in the car.
There’s something not quite right just not sure what it is!
Congrats to the podium winners and thank you to the sponsors and Ricky for organising the event!

Thanks to my sister Abbey for coming along to get cover in dust! And Ben and crew for their help.

Huge thank you to my sponsors!
