An important update for our Ring of Fire community.

Ring of Fire will move from its previously announced 2027 date to March 2028.

Ruapehu has been navigating one of its most challenging economic periods in decades, creating a difficult environment for delivering major events sustainably.

The additional time will allow OECT to strengthen the event, enhance the participant experience and support a strong and sustainable return for Ring of Fire.

We remain committed to the future of the event and look forward to sharing more as planning progresses.

100KM FINISHER RINGS UPDATE đź’Ť

We are really sorry our 100km finishers rings did not arrive in time for race weekend.

We understand how special these are, and we’re genuinely upset they weren’t there for you at the finish line.

The rings are currently still in transit, and as soon as they arrive, we will be sending them out to everyone who completed the 100km event.

FIRST RELAY TEAM HOME 🔥

Teamwork. Strategy. Grit.

And this afternoon, it all came together.

Our first 100km Relay team across the line was Harder Hills Tuesday consisting of Rhys Johnston, Sam Beale & Robbie Hammond!🔥

From the early kilometres in the dark, through to the final push to the finish - this was a team effort in every sense. Each runner played their part, handing over not just the timing chip, but the momentum that carried them all the way home.

Different legs. Different challenges. One shared goal.

That finish line moment?
Earned together.

An incredible performance from start to finish - and a huge congratulations to our first relay team home 🌋🔥

They crossed that finish line together at 1:50pm! 🥳

Ali cruised into the Chateau Lawn Aid Station side‑by‑side with Kirsty Gilmour earlier this afternoon - she was looking smooth, focused, and absolutely in the hunt.

She was only moments behind Katie White, and the chase was well and truly on.

With the legendary Goat leg still ahead, this race is far from settled. Kirsty was moving beautifully, running smart, and setting herself up for one incredible back half of the course.

The women’s 100km is on fire today.
Let’s see how this unfolds out on the ridgelines.

FIRST 100KM MALE FINISHER - MICHAEL LEA, crossing the line at 5:09pm 🔥

Across 100 kilometres of raw, volcanic terrain…
through darkness, climbs, wind, and everything the mountain could throw at him -
Michael Lea is your first 100km male finisher.

Just outside the 13 hour mark.
Relentless. Controlled. Unstoppable.

From the first step in the dark to the final push across the finish line, this was a performance built on grit, discipline, and pure determination.

This is what Ring of Fire is all about.
Not just the distance - but the strength it takes to keep moving when it gets tough.

An incredible effort. A massive achievement.

Katie White has just powered her way into the Chateau Lawn Aid Station as our leading woman in the 100km, looking strong, composed, and absolutely in the zone.

And now… she’s heading into The Goat.

It’s her first time taking on this legendary section - the wild ridgelines, the technical guts, the raw volcanic beauty - and she is in for an absolute treat. This is where the Ring of Fire shows its teeth, and where runners show what they’re made of.

Keep charging, Katie - you’re putting on a masterclass out there today.

Out on the volcanic trails right now are athletes representing eight countries, all converging on Ruapehu for one unforgettable challenge.

From first light, runners from across the world have stepped onto this whenua with courage, respect, and fire in their stride. Today’s field is a true international crew - each bringing their own story, their own grit, and their own reason for taking on this wild course.

It’s a global community moving across a living volcano - together, determined, and absolutely unstoppable.

To everyone out on course: keep steady, keep safe, and keep that fire burning.
Ruapehu is putting on a show today, and you’re part of it.

Reuben - Reports perfect conditions and a stunning morning, he's undecided if he is excited for the Goat section that lies ahead!

Georgia - Is having fun, enjoying the beautiful day in the National Park and not really looking forward to (and trying not to think about) The Goat section ahead!
