🔴⚪Tech Weekly Wrap ⚪🔴

A great weekend for our Tech whānau with wins across our Premier, Premier Reserve, and Women’s teams. 🔥

Unfortunately, due to injuries, our Davcon Colts had to default their match, but we hope to see the boys back out there and back in action this weekend.

Galbraith Earthmovers NTOB Premier Men 🔴⚪
A great team effort to get the win against Pirates, 24 - 22. A big focus for us during the week was tightening up our defensive systems, and it was pleasing to see the team transfer that hard work onto the field on game day.

There were some outstanding individual efforts that gave the group the lift needed to keep pushing right through to the final whistle.

We now turn our focus to a massive “quarter-final” fixture against Hastings, where we’ll leave everything out there.

Our 3, 2, 1s were:
🔴 3 – Kianu Kereru-Symes
⚪ 2 – Liam Udy-Johns
🔵 1 – Nick Patumaka

Tech Mechanical NTOB Women 🔴⚪
The girls came striking back this week with a dominant 74–17 win. It was awesome to have 20 players named to take the field, especially after recent weeks where numbers have been a challenge.

The team really stepped up, played some great rugby, and most importantly had plenty of fun out there. A great reminder of what this group is capable of when they come together.

Our 3, 2, 1s were:
🔴 3 – Haide Wilson
⚪ 2 – Billie Herewini & Sarah Andrews
🔵 1 – Tiana & Virginia

Nelson Signs NTOB Premier Reserve 🔴⚪
The boys bounced back well after the loss to Taradale. It was a tough battle up front, with plenty of physicality from both sides, but some outstanding backline play opened up the opportunities we needed to secure the win. Tech take the win over WCUMR Country 36 -24.

A great team effort and a good step forward as we keep building.

Our 3, 2, 1s were:
🔴 3 – Logan Sheriff
⚪ 2 – Osea Rovutugaga
🔵 1 – Gibson Tout

A massive weekend ahead as we move closer to finals rugby. Every game counts now, and our teams are ready to leave it all out there.

If you haven’t made it down to watch a game this season — this is your calling! Get the red and white on, bring the whānau, and get behind our teams when it matters most. 🔴⚪

♻️ Old jerseys, new life ❤️🤍

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteer Sandra Martin for turning some of our old Tech jerseys into these awesome cushions for the clubrooms.

Every jersey tells a story, and now those memories live on for everyone to enjoy.

At Tech we don’t waste anything — we celebrate our history.

Keep an eye out for them around the club 👀

One Club. One Whānau ❤️

🔴 Tech Weekly Wrap 🔴

After a well-earned break over King’s Birthday weekend, our teams were back into action across the grades. Plenty of effort, learnings, and moments to be proud of as our teams continue to build through the season.

Galbraith Earthmovers NTOB Premiers

A strong contingent of Tech supporters made the trip out to Anderson Park in Havelock North for Round 4 of the Maddison Trophy, and they were treated to a real game of two halves.

A slow start defensively saw us put under pressure in the first half, but the response after the break showed the character within this group. The boys adjusted, lifted their intensity, and dug deep when it mattered to finish the game strongly.

A big impact came from the bench, with our reserves bringing much-needed energy and helping shift momentum when the team needed it.

Final score:
🔴⚪ Tech 38 – 28 Havelock North

A great result on the road, but the focus now shifts to putting together a complete 80-minute performance as we prepare for a big clash against Pirates.

Player Points:
🔴 3 – Donovan Mataira
⚪ 2 – Adam Curran
🔴 1 – Oliver Beale

Tech Mechanical NTOB Women

Our Tech Mechanical Women were at home this weekend for the final game of the first round, taking on a strong and physical MAC side.

While it was their first loss of the season, there was still plenty to be proud of. The team showed heart and determination, continuing to compete right through to the final whistle. MAC brought a level of physicality that challenged us, but games like these provide valuable learnings and opportunities to grow.

The focus now shifts to using those lessons as fuel — working hard, improving, and being ready for the next time we meet.

Final score:
🔴⚪ MAC 57 – 17 Tech

Player Points:
🔴 3 – Billie & Macca
⚪ 2 – Sarah & Allura
🔴 1 – Courtney

Nelson Signs NTOB Premier Reserves

Our Nelson Signs Premier Reserves headed to Tareha Park to take on Taradale in Round 2.

It was one of those games that felt like it was there for the taking, but inconsistency and ill-discipline at key moments made it difficult to build momentum. When the team held onto the ball, strung phases together, and played our style of rugby, there were some really positive moments and plenty to build from.

A good reminder of the standards needed each week, and the focus now turns to putting those patches together for a full performance.

Final score:
🔴⚪ Taradale 34 – 19 Tech

Player Points:
🔴 3 – Arona Toelau
⚪ 2 – Logan Sheriff
🔴 1 – Suliano Kacikinakoro

Another weekend representing the Phoenix. Plenty to celebrate, plenty to learn, and we go again next week 💪
