To those who generously put their hands in the pockets to support our 2026 season - we thank you!

Our committees main goal every year is making Rugby accessible and inclusive for all that want to play. So, the focus this year was reducing costs. Fuel was uncertain at the start of the season, and we were unsure how much families would be able to commit.

We approached Sponsors and were astounded by the generosity and kindness shown for our cause. Thank you to all of the businesses that made our 2026 season little lighter on the pocket for our families.

We all know the commitment it takes for a child to take the paddock.

We also know how they put in a little extra effort when they hear their name being cheered on from the sideline!

So thank you, to those who make THAT magic happen for our Players. Your commitment and time does not go unnoticed.

Enjoy your break and we hope to see you back on the sideline in 2027!

Well done to Sophia Collins! Good luck for U14 Reps!!

Game Reports from Saturday, 14th August:

** Murchison U7 (Rippa) **
We had our final round game this last weekend and played a super fast Rangers team at home for this.

What a game. It was fast right from the get go. Rangers were a well oiled machine and we saw some epic moves from those little guys and gals. Our team countered well, with some really great dives for rips and tries throughout the game plus some fantastic runs and great attempts to pass outside the inner circle.

Thinking back to how our season started we have come such a long way. Kudos to our kids. They’ve consistently put in effort and tried their best week in week out. Our coaching and management staff couldn’t be prouder!

Thank you to all that put effort into our team this year, be it getting the kids to training, sponsorship, kitchen duty or being support on the sideline. Its been an epic season and enjoyed by all. Mikes 7s tournament in Stoke is our last hurrah for the year which is on Saturday, 29th Aug. Hope to see you all there! (Julia Sara - Manager)

• Player of the day – Jagger Topping
• Rippa of the day – Oskar Fogarty

** Murchison U8 **
U8s this week went up against Rangers for our last home game of the season. Murch came out ready to go and showed rangers how well they can tackle and support each other to get the tries.

Also, we showed everyone how fast some of our players can be! We definitely made it hard for the Rangers to get their tries in. Murch put on a great game for all the supporters that turned up! They all played really well.
Our player of the day and Tackler of the day had a blinder, both playing one of their best games this season. They just kept going for the whole game!

See you all in Tapawera next weekend. (Tash Miller – Manager)

• Player of the day – Emmet Gill
• Tackler of the day – Sholto MacDermott

** Murchison U9 **
The Murchison under 9s played Wanderers Gold this week and they came out blazing showing Murch what a strong side they were. It was a slow start for the Murch kids, but by the second half and a pep talk from the coach they were back in it and giving it all they had.

When we work well as a team, we’re unstoppable!

• Our Player of the day went to Michael who got to many breakdowns, was bridging and scored himself a well-earned try.
• Tackler of the day went to Mason who made many try saving tackles and just kept going, he also scored some great tries.

It’s great to see the whole team work together to make magic happen, they should all be proud of how far they have come. Thanks to our supporters, it’s always great to have you there cheering.

Bring on next weekend in Tapawera for our last game before the 7’s tournament in Stoke. (Samara Jones – Manager)

** Murchison U15 **
Saturday saw us have an early start to head to Blenheim to play Marlborough Gold. Our boys started better than the previous week. But we were up against a side that has been together for the last couple of years. They had some strong runners and big forwards. We competed well in the first half playing with a typical Blenheim wind.

In the second half the Marlborough side gave us a lesson in playing with the wind while also taking their chances with the ball in hand. They were a very physical side which we haven't encountered this season. With the ref trying to keep control we had our first yellow and then red card for our side. They also had players sent to cool down for a few minutes. This definitely changed the games feel and intensity.

To our boys credit they stuck to the task and never gave up even though the score was getting away from us.

• Players of the day were Hunter Page in the forwards and Tama Marshall in the backs.

We have two games this week to finish the season. First is against Waimea combined at Nayland College then Kahurangi on Saturday also at Nayland College. Thanks for all our loyal supporters for sticking with us. (Tony Peacock – Coach / Manager)
