You know what a lot of people probably ARE gonna say or think?
“I wish I’d been in more photos. I wish I hadn’t been so reluctant to get in my togs and swim with my kids and friends. I wish I hadn’t made the way I looked the biggest priority and my worst insecurity. “

Most healthy habits will involve a level of healthy discomfort and discipline-
But it’s never a bad time to check in and see if your habits are bringing you joy, or if they’ve maybe become a bit compulsive, and are no longer serving you (if they ever were in the first place).

Just ‘cause myfitnesspal doesn’t know about it, doesn’t mean it don’t count 🙅🏼‍♀️

This is not a post to demonise tracking- it can be an invaluable tool to use for specific periods to help in the way of achieving goals ✅

BUT a lifetime spent religiously tracking, viewing food as numbers and workouts as an obligation, doesn’t leave much room for LIVING 🌞
The key is figuring out what’s appropriate for the stage you are in 🧘🏼‍♀️ and what it’s worth to you ✨

Share with someone who needs to hear this 🤍

Have you been indulging a little bit extra over the summer?
Have you found yourself with a glass of wine in your hands a little more often?
Have you been enjoying a charcuterie board with friends on the weekends?
Then congratulations, you are a human living through summertime 🌞 👏🏼

It’s Resolution Season, which can be a blessing and a curse. 🥴

Goal-setting is one of the essential steps I go through with clients when embarking on training together, as it gives us a direction to move in.

Some of my biggest tips when setting goals or resolutions are:

🤍 Make it MEASURABLE- if there is no way to measure your goal, we’ll never know that you’ve reached it. E.g. instead of saying “I want to squat heavier” try >>> “I’m going to squat ___kg with full ROM”. This gives us a benchmark to aim for, and a point at which to congratulate ourselves.

🤍 Make it true to YOU - how many times have you set goals because you think you SHOULD?? We often feel that we should be fitter, slimmer, wealthier, that we should get up at 4am and go to the gym. But WHY? Is it because that matters to you? Or is that what you think others/society expects of you?

🤍 Make it REALISTIC - While thinking about the big picture is super important and helpful in steering us in the right direction, often a big goal can be overwhelming. If your big goal is to run a marathon, but you currently can’t run a 5k without stopping, break your goal up into bite sized chunks, starting with that 5k.

This Christmas, let’s opt out of feeling guilty for partaking in the festivities and fun 👏🏼

BALANCE ⚖️

Often times one of the HARDEST things to achieve.
Moderation forces us to use self-control, and be in tune with our body and brain’s cues and needs.
There’s a reason why it’s often EASIER to not keep chocolate in the house, than to just have 4 squares each night 🍫

But being able to ENJOY all good things in moderation, while ensuring your body is getting the nutrients and sustenance it needs, is essential for long-term consistency and success 💫

Of course the oats and fruit in the first image is a much more balanced, healthy breakfast. But if you’re so committed to your ‘healthy’ breakfast that you’re not allowing yourself to enjoy the Friday croissant you’re craving, the habit may not be all that healthy 🤔
