It's awesome to see our 3 lads named in the match day 23 for the game against Southland Metro this afternoon congratulations boys go well!

We have an afternoon of Footy to watch at the showgrounds, S.O.H.S 1st xv are playing wakatipu at 12.45 on field number 2 in there semi final.

We also host Otago Country vs Southland Metro @ 2.30pm on number 1. So come on down and watch some great country rugby!!
Bar will be open for Refreshments

As our Axemen season has come to an end. We would like to take this Opportunity to thank you all for your great support of the team as spectators the boys have really appreciated the warmth from all of you.
To all of Our sponsors we thank you for your continued support of the Axemen and Toko Rugby Club without your continued support we wouldn't be doing what we all love out on the field.
To our Coaches Josh Harrex and Dylan Bungard, Manager Shane Mcdonald, Medic Lockie finch thanks for all of your time spent away from your families and the huge effort involved in putting the team out on the park week in week out again this season is very much appreciated and we hope to see you again next season!!

This report sums the match up perfectly. Hold your heads up Toko 💛💙💛💙

West Taieri will join Clutha in the final after a strong 39-12 win over Toko at the Outram Domain.

West Taieri, led by no8 Conor Lawson took the battle to Toko in the collision area and on the carry. It didn’t take long for Lawson to make his mark with a try inside the first minute of the match. Toko hit back through lock Josh Sanders who finished off a spectacular team try. With the match being played at a frenetic tempo it was Lawson again who crossed for his second and third tries in quick succession to give West Taieri a defendable lead. Toko fought back and crossed through a massive individual effort from prop James Agnew who cantered 20m scything through defenders to score. The halftime score was 22-12 to West Taieri.

The second half saw the home side control proceedings with two more tries to no8 Lawson who finished the day with five tries to his name. Toko couldn’t get any form of momentum due to their lopsided penalty count and the abrasiveness of West Taieri’s defence. Toko still had their fair share of territory and possession but frustratingly couldn’t build meaningful phases before giving the ball away through penalties. The match finished in West Taieri’s favour, but the score definitely flattered the hosts with the amount of territory and possession Toko had. West Taieri were far too clinical and the difference maker was the man who wore the West Taieri number eight on his back.

Lawson was at a different level for the home side in this match on both attack and defence. He ran straight, hard, and was extremely hard to stop especially close to the line. On defence, he didn’t miss out on opportunities to clatter the opposition ball runners either. Locks Conor Beaton and Ben Davidson had massive matches for the home side too. Davidson’s defensive work at the lineout was again massive. West Taieri’s bench added plenty with Nick Casey and Luke Moeke especially standing out.

Toko will feel frustrated with the result after a quality season but can still hold their heads up high with their efforts. Lock Josh Sanders had another huge match in the tight for Toko. Sanders carried well all match and chopped ball runners down all day. Ho**er Keegan Ferguson was at his physical best as was blindside flanker Caleb Shaw. First five Jared Hayes was once again a leader of men in the backline alongside Mr Reliable Damon Clement who had another strong outing for the visiting side.
