Been a couple of big years in the Wairarapa for the growth of the game. Scott brought the passion that helped inject life into the game here and was always willing to give his time to anyone that wanted help in the game. While he was only just getting started, there is plenty to build from the foundations laid.
While he will be missed, it will be exciting to see who takes up the challenge next.
It is with sadness to advise, Scott Collins will be leaving the Wairarapa Bush family in early 2024, to return back to Auckland with his wife Summar, and young daughter Mackenzie.
Scott is highly respected as a member of our rugby community and his mahi in the woman's and junior rugby space, has been second to none.
In the two years since Scott joined us, we have seen the formation of the Wairarapa Wahine Toa club, the first ever North Island Heartland woman's rugby competition, foundations for women’s under 16 and 18 rugby programs plus a junior rugby competition that has brimmed with excitement especially the Wai Bush, now famous, junior rugby carnival days which attracts upwards of 1,000 people at each event.
We will miss Scott’s soft, gentle but firm approach to these amazing achievements, not to mention his enormous knowledge of the womens game and the New Zealand rugby landscape.
Scott’s last day will be 20 February 2024 and we will start advertising for his replacement soon.
I am sure, along with the WB Board and staff, we wish Scott and his family well for their new adventure.
