Thank you to everyone who took the time to go and vote for our Solway College Team’s video, we really do appreciate it! 💚🤍

And of course a huge thank you to Bayleys Real Estate & Generate KiwiSaver for their amazing sponsorship!

Our team sets off tomorrow morning on the big trip north for this exciting event.

The results are in for the Bayleys Real Estate and Generate KiwiSaver Travel Grant Awards.

The winner of the public vote, with a strong result, is Solway College. The recipient of the Pegasus Cup team selection is Otamatea High School.

Each of these schools will receive $1,000 to help support their travel to the Generate Pegasus Cup 2026.

A big thank you to Bayleys Real Estate and Generate KiwiSaver for sponsoring the Travel Grant Awards and helping make it possible for more schools to attend this year’s event.

Last week we had four teams take part in Nga Tawa Equestrian Interschools at Mansfield Park, Fielding.

Well done to all of our Solway riders, we had some great individual results on the day, and our Solway Green team (riders listed below) placed 3rd in the overall teams event.

We had a fabulous day yesterday at St Matthew’s Jumping day.

Well done to all of our Solway College riders, thank you to the event organisers and sponsors for a wonderful day, and to our Solway College caregivers and parents for their support yesterday.

Well done to our Solway college Red Team on placing 2nd in the overall teams event, and taking out overall local team!

Lots of great individual results for our riders (too many to list) but a special well done to Demi Smith & Jane Shelton who took away Reserve Champion in their height divisions!

Demi Smith also took out the Overall Local rider of the day!

Week 1 & 2 term one ✅

A busy first couple of weeks settling back into our Equestrian Acadmy programme after the summer break, with twenty one students currently enrolled in our academy programme.

Next week nineteen Solway equestrian students will be attending the first interschools event on the year - St Matthew’s Jumping day, which is the start to a busy term one with lots of interschools events in the calendar!

Well done to two of our Equestrian Academy members, Molly Gilhooly and Lucy Bourke who this year have both achieved their Level 2 Equine Skills certificate through NZ Equine Education Trust.

Lots of hard work has gone in throughout the year, which has certainly paid off.

It was great to see so many of our Solway riders out last weekend supporting the Wairarapa A&P show, with lots of fantastic results.

Well done to Bridie King and Emma Heathcote who competed yesterday in the Woodford House Interschools event at the Hawkes Bay A& P show.

Bridie riding Captivate VWNZ placed 1st and Emma riding Scenario place 2nd in the 80cm class, securing them 1st Place in the overall teams event!

Well done girls, and good luck to everyone competing at the A&P show this weekend.

On Friday we held our annual Solway College Sports Awards.

Its been a wonderful year for Equestrian at Solway College, we have attended six interschools events so far, with the last one of the year being Woodford House next week.

Well done to all of our riders for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
