Women 13+ in the Wairarapa.
We're considering a pilot for women's only sessions in the new year and are seeking expressions of interest.
TL:DR
Message us if you're keen to try out submission grappling (primarily BJJ) in the new year with a group of women.
‐------------------------
We know it's hard for ladies to try out new sports, especially combat sports which tend to be male dominated. As such we want to offer up a 6 week introduction to submission grappling (primarily BJJ).
We've got a few logistics to iron out but hopefully we'll run it for free but at the very least it will be a subsidized rate for the intro period. At this stage it's likely to be tues/thurs nights in masterton but subject to change.
It's worth noting that this will be focussed on grappling as a sport and not as a self defense course, so while it will give you tools to defend yourself and build confidence there are much better courses out there if that's your goal.
This is an up close and personal sport with a lot of contact, if you struggle there, please think carefully about whether this is the sport for you.
Finally, the head coach will be male, most techniques will be demonstrated with his daughter but there may be a requirement for physical contact to understand correct technique, if this is a problem you're still welcome but it may make it challenging to pick up the sport.
Still not sure what you're getting into? Check this link out to see Ffion Davies in action (top female bjj athlete) - https://youtu.be/JrBGj7XJQY8?si=A7xXYKEdHiD4Xf1d
If none of that puts you off and you're keen to try one of the fastest growing sports out there then grab your mother, daughter, auntie or a mate and give it a go!
