Check in on the results today and search for the name Hayden Greenwood from the Masterton R***e Club NZ.

This year he was picked for the NZ r***e team and this is his first event representing New Zealand on the world stage.

Hayden has worked so hard to get to where he is and has already overcome so much.
He is naturally right handed and right eye dominant and is forced to shoot left handed as a result of an injury he suffered a few years ago.

Imagine having to learn to walk again and then working so hard at it that you get picked to rep your country!

To say that we are proud to support him is an understatement.

Instead of saying “good luck” we say “enjoy each moment mate” it’s always a game of you vs you, and what a great environment to be in an and soak up so much knowledge by being surrounded by the worlds best.

We’ll be live across four separate streams throughout the day, following the match from 300 yards right through to the deciding shots at 1000 yards and the trophy presentation.

Sunday session! Final validation at distance for the 18” 308 Tikka. Every one of the final test combinations for 150sst, 150 nosler BT & 165 TGK were a hit. Hard to beat that feeling stacked on top of a beautiful spring morning.

A great customer who’s short of time is getting us to do some testing and verification of a load through his now 18” barrel to get the best possible results from it. Initial calculations have been made. Next step, testing! Which would you pick up front?

This Saturday afternoon we are helping this year’s Hutt Valley NZDA HUNTS course students to set up for success.

We are running a dedicated session for the students to assess what equipment they have, and to help them get it set up to them individually. Followed by an overview of the fundamentals to build strong foundations for their marksmanship.

Then it’s onto the range for zeroing and prepping them for handover to the great team of HUNTS instructors who will take them through a stack of valuable lessons in the coming weeks.

This is what we exist for, helping people get the best from their equipment and themselves.

I’ll say it louder for the gunssmiffs in the back. THE THREADS MUST CENTER ON THE BORE. This is what happens when people cut corners and simply cut a thread on the outside of the barrel. Once this customer gets this replaced by the shop who did it, we will be able to help him. Until then, our part is on hold.

We dropped a nugget of useful information on YouTube this week.
We had a customer ask us to fit their new scope as they weren’t too sure how to make it fit them the same way their last scope did as it was set up perfectly.

It’s a handy trick to match that same focal point you had when switching optics. And if you tweak it a bit, you can actually mark on the stock where your eye will be when you’re naturally rested on your stock in your preferred position.
Then you can match the eye relief of the scope to that.
