BABE RUTH 14U DIVISION - FULL!

Thanks to everyone who has registered for the Mid-Summer Blast, delighted to announce that we are now at capacity for our 14U division!! in 3 weeks!!

14U Athletes can still register, and will be placed onto a waitlist.

Babe Ruth 16U Division is also close to being full with ONE SPOT remaining.

Cal Ripken 12U still has spots available (11), lets spread the word to get new or returning athletes involved in MSB27!!

Baseball season is right around the corner. Tasman Country Baseball is expecting another exciting season starting next term!

This year, our goal is to have 4 age groups:

Kiwiball (teeball): Ages 5-8. Teeballers will practice and play once a week at the Mapua domain. cost:$40/term.

12U Baseball: Ages 9-12. This is open to both brand new and repeat players. We practice once per week in Mapua. We play one game per weekend at Saxton field. We will also travel to Christchurch for the Jim Kaat Tournament to face off against other 12U teams from around New Zealand in February. Cost: $100 for the season.

14U Baseball: Ages 12-14. This is also open to both new and existing players. We will practice once a week with opportunities for much more training. We practice alongside the Nelson Heat at Saxton. We play weekend games with the Nelson Heat. Cost: $100 for the season.

Community Fun League: Open to all ages, built so parents can play too. Show up to weekly evening games and enjoy playing some ball in a non-competitive atmosphere! Cost: Free!

Saturday September 19th at Saxton: Learn to play baseball day 2
1st practice of the season: Week 1 Term 4. exact date will come soon.

FAQ:
Do I need to buy gear? Tasman has lots of gloves, bats, helmets etc. If you're just giving baseball a try, don't bother buying a bunch of gear. If you fall in love with the sport, then it's time to buy gear.
What if I've never played before and don't even know the rules? Every year we have brand new players. It doesn't take long to pick up the game and start having fun. Give it a shot. You'll love it!
Do I pay for a uniform? 12U and 14U players will be provided a playing shirt, pants and a belt. Players can either purchase their own ball cap or borrrow one for the season. Players will need long red athletic socks and baseball cleats (soccer boots work well too)
When does the season start? We kick off the season Week 1 of Term 4 and go until early April.
Are there opportunities for kids to compete at higher levels? Yes!!!
Tasman has sent 4 kids to compete for New Zealand at the Cal Ripken World Series. We look to send more this season!
We are building a South Island team to compete in the Australian Timberjacks Tournament next June.
We hope to send a 12U and 14U travel squad to Nationals. (Nelson 14U won Silver last year)

Off season trainings are back on. Tuesdays 3:30 till we run out of sunlight. We’ll go until we run out of light, 5pm or so.

No baseball trainings this week or next week, as I’ll be overseas. We’ll resume off season work May 26th!

I will be running off-season training to start Tuesday, April 21st and go till end of term 3.

Trainings will go from 3:15 to 4:45. (We need to train earlier to avoid issues with low afternoon light.

We will train at the Mapua domain close to true skate park
This is open to all kids ages 10 and over.

This training will be focused on throwing and catching in a baseball setting. However, we welcome kids who want to improve cricket skills as well!

The goals for this session are as follows:
1. Improve coordination and athleticism
2. Improve throwing velocity and accuracy
3. Have fun

Kids can jump in late to help with travel times.

There is no cost, but please let me know if you’d like to join so I ensure we have enough gear.
