Just an update on the pontoon status. Its been a while but have been giving those responsible plenty of time to make amends or apologies, but sadly nothing. They did have nature on their side though. The pontoon came free from its ties a few weeks ago and drifted down under the bridge. As luck would have it, I spotted it drifting passed our place and called Craig home. Lucky also that it still had a rail still attached underneath and got snagged on the oyster mound off our place. We were able to wade out and drag it close enough to the shore to get a rope attached. The rail preventing us from getting it too close. Now at least we had access to it.On the low ride Craig attempted to right it with his tractor. Unfortunately it couldn't hold it and it fell back down smashing the rail. Then got the tractor stuck, but got it out OK. Without the rail we were able to bring it closer to the shore. Next attempt using the digger and tractor was successful. In the meantime I had informed Mr PC of events and suggested he might at least encourage the boys to wade up the estuary at low tide to recover the other rails, anchors, chains and ropes still up steam. Very disappointed with his response. Apparently it is not illegal to vandalise property and the excuse that it was an accident frees the culprits from liability. He said it wasn't very far for one of us to walk up and pick the stuff up ourselves. I replied that I knew that, but that was hardly the point. Anyway, he said that there was nothing more that he could do and it was in our hands. So to Ms Emily Powley from Garbolino Rd, thanks for your hollow promises made on behalf of your two boys to compensate us for the time, effort and damage to property they have caused us.
