Welcome to the start of the 2025/26 Season for the Northern Southland Amateur Swimming club based at the lovely pool in Lumsden.
We are looking forward to the pool opening at Labour weekend!

I hope you have had a wonderful festive season and a fantastic holiday time.

We are getting sorted with swim classes for this term and have attached the link for enrolling. I've set the form so it should send you a copy of your responses including the banking details. To suit our coaches, swimming will once again be on a Monday and will go for 6 weeks.

Swim season will be on us again very soon.
We have decided to run lessons on a Monday again. The pool is opening on the weekend before Labour weekend so we are going to run it a little different this time.

Monday 21 October
Group sorting session

You will need to register and choose a time to come for an initial check to see where your child is at. We will have children show us what they can do so that we can then place them in appropriate groups for the season

Monday 28 October
No swimming due to Labour Day

Monday 4 Nov to Monday 9 Dec (6 weeks) will be swim club sessions.

We feel, by doing it this way, we can get groups correct from the start.

We ask that you come to the first session at the time requested and your child does not get in the pool before we have watched what they can do. After that, they will be free to play. We will have the pool booked from 4-6

We are really keen to welcome anyone who would like to be a volunteer coach - just message us for details :) If you're interested in NZQA credits, the course does get you 43 Level 3 credits and we pay for the training :)

The pool is set to open on Labour weekend and our plan is to hold 5 weeks of lessons from the week of 30th October until the week of 27th November.
Days will be dependent on our coaches availability.
Please keep an eye on your inboxes as I hope to have enrolment forms sorted in the next week.
If you know there are other sports on particular days, send me a PM please.

And a reminder, we are looking for some more volunteer coaches as I have three year 13s who will be gone at the end of the year.
You will be trained, supported and (if you are interested) can gain 40 level 3 credits.

Next week is our last week and we will get the inflatables out after lessons.
There’ll also be a treat for those who are there 🥰

Being able to swim doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t get into trouble in the water but it sure will help. This is why we encourage people to do swimming lessons - with us, or with any other provider you choose. Get your kids into some lessons and, get some for yourself if you need to as well (just ask and we can arrange this)
