🖤💛 Athletics Wellington CLUB OF THE YEAR - Lower Hutt Amateur Athletics Club ❤️🤍

This award goes out to every single one of our members! Thank you for being a part of something super special this season that was nominated and acknowledged last night by Athletics Wellington at the 2025 Awards Dinner.

Some of the highlights include:
- 30% increase in members, particularly at Junior Inter-club and Wellington Champs
- Creation of development streams and coaching environment
- Increased promotion of athletics as a sport in our region
- Hosting of the pre-Colgate games competitive event which over 100 AW athletes signed up to
- 60% increase in Wellington Championships medals, collecting 109 medals this year, up from 68 last year and 70% increase in relay participation and success, with our teams earning 17 relay medals and another medley record.
- Multiple Wellington and New Zealand records broken by LHAAC athletes
- Many LHAAC athletes chosen to represent both Wellington and New Zealand 🇳🇿

Another one of our outstanding senior athletes has just returned from representing New Zealand at the Australian Athletics Junior Championship in Brisbane.

Troy Waldrom continued his outstanding form this season, being part of the NZ U19 4x100 relay team which placed second at the Australian Champs and broke the NZ U19 age grade record in the process (awaiting ratification).

Troy also qualified for both the 100m and 200m finals, coming 5th in the 100m and 7th in the 200m. This is an outstanding achievement, placing him among the fastest for his age in the continent.

Awesome work Troy and for guiding the relay team and Troy this season.

One of our outstanding senior athletes has just returned from representing New Zealand at the Australian Athletics Championship in Sydney.

Asher Robertson is officially a decathlete, competing at the Australian Championships in his first international meet. Winning the 100m sprints and the High Jump, Asher finished up 7th in a competitive U20 field to finish his season in style. We are very proud of you Asher, you are such a great model for our younger athletes who you inspire both on the big stage, as well as at club nights.
