Players of the day

Year 3 Back In Black- playing against Upper Hutt

Last game of the season & we ended up with 3x POD’s

💚POD for Back in Black: Boston Mokomoko, week in week out this kid turns up with the upmost determination! He’s grown in to a leadership role & always leads from the front! Covered some meters today & made some outstanding tackles! Couple of meat pies too!

🖤POD for Back In Black: Xavier Fernandez, our first year having him & he’s been on fire all season! One of our top tacklers! & he can run like the wind blows too! Made some massive runs, tackled his heart out & managed to save a couple tries! Massive effort from Xav’s!

💚POD for Back In Black: Zion George, this kid is possibly the most determined in the team! He plays a year up but you wouldn’t think it! Zeezee knows one way to the try line - straight! Unfortunately due to his running style & size he gets smashed a bit & he is an absolute magnet for getting head high tackled! But to his credit he shrugs it off every time!

🖤POD from Upper Hutt was Elijah Williams or as he’s known to us “GIGGLES” I’ve never known a kid to smile so much when he runs with the ball! & today was no different (even had the UH coaches cracking up at him!) It’s so funny to watch him evade tackles while he’s laughing at the opposition! He tackled his heart out too & ran just as hard!

Congratulations to all of our brothers very well deserved!

A very successful season for our little ones, they should all be very proud of themselves! I know I’m proud of them!

Heaps for us to improve on though, we’ll keep our standards high & keep striving to be better every week!

Players of the day - playing against HOBM

💚POD for Back in Black today was Young Tui, she plays up a grade & is one of our smallest players, but players her little heart out! Made some great tackles & great runs! She’s keen as too which is always great to see!

🖤POD from HOBM was our mate Mason Lacey, I’ve had this kid for 3 years now & he just grows every week! Throws his body in to all the context & loves it! Not surprised he got POD, kids a legend!

Congratulations to both our brothers very well deserved!

Like last week?l massive game today from all of our Back In Black team! We were down by 4 tries at half time, but after a halftime tune up from yours truly, they came out with a rocket up there ….. & managed to come away with the W, winning by 2x tries!

Talk about a game of two halves!

Heaps for us to improve on though, we’ll keep our standards high & keep striving to be better every week!

Players of the day - playing against Petone

💚POD for Back in Black today was Young Zion George or Zeezee to his mates, like a couple of his team mates, Zeezee is playing up a grade, but you wouldn’t think it! He gets absolutely belted around but shrugs it off every time! Tackled his little heart out & got a length of the field try with a flying dive to score🙄🤣 very proud Coach/Dad!

🖤POD from HOBM was Elijah Takarangi-Berry, remember this name, this kid is going places! He tackles anything that moves & scores from absolutely anywhere on the paddock! Quite possibly the quickest kid I’ve ever seen!

Massive game today from all of our Back In Black team! Probably game of the season for me!

Players of the day - playing against HOBM

💚POD for Back in Black today was young Noah Matautia, one of our smallest by size, but definitely not by stature! He plays a year above his grade with us & is one of our heartiest players! I’m so proud of this young man! The efforts he puts in at training & at home with his Dad & brother are definitely showing!

🖤POD from HOBM was Boston Mokomoko, in such horrible cold conditions, this big guy stepped up when it counted! Made a massive impact when he came on! Tackled anything that moved & got a hand full of try’s too!

Congratulations to both our brothers very well deserved!

Huge workload from all of our team! In what felt like sub zero conditions, our little ones stuck fat & played their little hearts out!

Heaps for us to improve on though, we’ll keep our standards high & keep striving to be better every week!

Players of the day - playing against Eastbourne 2 August

💚POD for Back in Black today was Elijah Williams, or as we know him, Giggles, played his little heart out, made some great runs, few meat pies & some gutsy tackles too!

🖤POD from Eastbourne was Noah Card, no surprises here, he’s one of our most consistent players on the field, he’s took a few knocks yesterday, but he brushed them off & played like a machine!

Congratulations to both our brothers very well deserved!

Huge workload from all of our team! We had a bunch of kids off with illness, so meant our team had to play a whole game, but thanks to their hard work at trainings, our fitness blew the opposition off the field!

Managing to get the win over Eastbourne on their home turf!

Big take away from us was Eastbourne’s coach said to us at the end of the game “I don’t think you guys lost the ball once in that game!” & he was right, 50mm game with 100% ball retention!

Very proud coach!

However, heaps for us to improve on though, we’ll keep our standards high & keep striving to be better every week!

💚POD for Back in Black today was Boston Mokomoko! This boy plays with all his heart & today was no different! One of the most determined young men I’ve ever come across & his rugby benefits from this trait so much! Tackling machine! & couple meat pies too!

🖤POD from HOBM was Rieko Tipene, he played like a young man possessed! Tackled his little heart out! & ran like the wind blows!

Congratulations to both our brothers very well deserved!

It was like the school holidays didn’t phase them!

Players of the day - playing against Petone

💚POD for Back in Black today was our little man Marley George, one of our most consistent players & showed why today, leading from the front with his tackles & running all day, even got himself a length of the field meat pie for his efforts too!

🖤POD from Petone was young Boston Mokomoko! No surprises here, he’s larger than life but can run like the wind blows! Tackled his little heart out too!

Congratulations to both our brothers very well deserved!

Petone were a very good team, and had some really big/fast players, but we managed to get the W 19-17, plenty for us to improve on though, we’ll keep our standards high & keep striving to be better every week!

Wainui vs Stokes Valley.
Man our kids are athletic soldiers , 50kt southerly wind gusts, pouring rain AND hail, along with 3 degree temps? WOW WEE.

💚POD for Back in Black today was the bro Noah or as I like to refer to him, my insurance policy! This guy is an absolute tacking machine! Couple of long range try savers! Very well deserved!

🖤POD from Stokes Valley was young Tui, only her first year of rugby, & she’s a year younger than the rest! She’s slowly getting that hang of things, but she is not scared of a bit of contact!

Congratulations to both our brother & sister very well deserved!

Stokes were a very good team, but we managed to get the W, plenty for us to improve on though, we’ll keep our standards high & keep striving to be better every week!

💚POD for Back in Black today was the bro Elijah, or “Eli”, he only joined our team this year & has hit the ground running, speed to burn, not afraid of the rough stuff either! Good hand full of meat pies too!

🖤POD from Avalon was young Noah Card, one of our best tacklers week - week out, & was not put off by the size of the opposition, coz they were huge compared to us!

Congratulations to both our brothers very well deserved!

Avalon were much bigger & stronger than us! But we used our speed, fitness & technique, coming away with a 29 tries to 24 tries win 👊🏻
