It is with great sadness that we have to acknowledge the recent passing of our club patron, life member and “All time team” member Wal Scott. Wal joined the club as a player in 1964 and was instrumental in LCC winning many senior championship’s during his playing tenure. He was also invaluable off the field as well, preparing pitches, mowing out fields, organising teams etc etc. In fact it is said that he spent so much time preparing pitches at LCC’s former grounds at Burnham, that the army just assumed he was a member of their’s and Wal was able to enjoy plenty of hospitality in the canteen and bar there courtesy of the NZ Army 😂. Wal was also a great mentor to many young players and established the “Lincoln Emerging Players “ senior b team in the mid nineties to do just that. Wal was a great club man and always wore his baggy cap with pride when coming down to the domain to support current Senior teams in his later years and he will be sadly missed not just by us but by the many local community groups that he supported. A service will be held for Wal at St Andrew’s chapel on June 12th.
