Today marks the end of an era.
The final Core Knowledge courses for HPSNZ have wrapped up, closing out a brilliant coach development program that’s influenced over 400 coaches across Aotearoa in the past four years.
It’s been a real privilege to serve as one of the lead facilitators, heading up the Body in Motion domain of the program. Together, we explored sport science and strength & conditioning concepts while diving deep into the art of IPPs, Campaign Planning, End-in-Mind thinking, and developing a clear Picture of Performance.
Our education model was grounded in adult learning principles. Drawing knowledge out of the coaches in the room, introducing new ideas, and practicing critical thinking. Each course was a showcase of cognitive diversity at its best, where coaches from all backgrounds shared experiences, challenged thinking, and collectively elevated each other’s craft.
While it’s a shame to see the program come to an end, I’m incredibly proud to have been part of this re-energised wave of coach education through HPSNZ.
A huge thank you to Lyn Gunson , Craig Palmer , and Angie Dougal for trusting me to lead the Body in Motion domain over the past four years.
With this final course, it also brings to a close 17 years of involvement with High Performance Sport New Zealand; 14 as an employee and the past 3 as a contractor delivering Core Knowledge. It’s been an honour to wear the fern for work, contribute to meaningful programs, and be surrounded by so many talented, passionate people.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported, mentored, and worked alongside me along the way, it’s been a privilege.
