Jump saddles, specifically Pony 🦄 Jump saddles! Despite the name, they are not all designed to add to every parents fear that their beloved child will be sent flying into the stratosphere on their first ride 🙈

Designed to jump in? Yes, and they hey also have a few features that will keep your kids earth side for a bit longer, and reasons why, as fitters, we love a pony jump saddle!

🫶 Most Pony Jump saddles, have a 1/2 seat, somewhere between a GP and Jump, ensuring there is more room to move and position yourself well over a fence, along with a nice "spot" for schooling and hacking.

👌 Leg length! This is massive. You have done an incredible job nourishing and growing your child, now they are taller than you and trying to ride beloved Timmy who is still a total legend and all they need him to be, and 13.2hh 🙈 which is where your fitter starts to look for extra room absolutely anywhere, so we, like you can see the legendary combination head to the Olympics! Enter, forward cut flaps and a 1/2 seat, more room to fit that thigh length that Americas Next Top Model (is that even still a thing!?) is lining up for the catwalk. That is where the magic is and why your fitter has probably recommended a pony jump, even though heading for the trot poles might be more the feels at the moment.

🙌 which leads me to my last, parent to parent point. I get it, money comes in, we think of all the lovely things we can buy ourselves, when in reality, the wine is from the bottom shelf and we are trying to find money down the back of the couch for takeaways 🥂 so the A team around the place, our pride and joy, the kids get alllll of the fancy 😉 The longevity of the Pony Jump might just outweigh the comparison in the GP and give your wallet a well earned 3.4 seconds off, before its shelling out again.

So, don't be scared of the kid flying just yet, they will still sit in a great spot, and might just get a year or two more out of the Pony Jump than you were expecting!

Listen up 🫵
Your saddles panels should NEVER feel like they are going to POP 💥

Another day on the work bench, another flocking disaster 🙈 this time beautiful quality wool, in a well made saddle, but there was about twice as much as necessary 🫣 The panels were more likened to a sausage to fit a wooden plank, than the sympathetic mouldable panels that should support you and your horse. We want our beautiful horses to work into the saddle, and when the saddle is part brick 🧱, I’m sure you can all guess where that ends up.

So, if you’ve had your saddle fully reflocked, rebalanced up or are looking at a used saddle and it feels like you could use it as a tennis court, there’s a bit of work to do = money to spend to solve the problem 💸

One of these things is not like the other 😳
Reason number 567384, why you should have a used saddle checked by your fitter before you spend your 💸 on your 🦄

This s**t show came out of a beautiful saddle, that retails for around $5600 new, so to say I was surprised what a “fitter” had put in as “flocking” to balance the saddle, likely from new, surprised me a bit, although I’m a bit desensitised these days 🙈

I’m so lucky to work with the most awesome group of professional fitters, and I know that they will be happy to check your saddle before you commit to buying it.
