Here are the answers to your frequently asked questions🪂 scroll through and leave yours in the comments !
✈️Is there an age limit?
Skydiving has no age! As long as you are healthy, you can jump out of a plane. We do advise for anyone that is less then 16 years old to jump only from 10000ft.
✈️Can you skydive during winter?
Yes, we skydive all year round. In fact at Skydive Mt Cook, winter is the best time to jump. When the sky is clear, you get beautiful crisp view of the snowy souther alps!
✈️ Is there a weight limit?
Our weight limits go from a minimum of 35 kg to a maximum of 100kg. Anyone who’s between 35 and 45kg will be assessed on the day by one of our instructors. This is to ensure that the harness fits safely. For anyone above 100kg, depending on staff availability, we might be able to go ahead with your jump. We do suggest to call ahead of time to check on staff availability. Please note that the tandem instructor always has the last say. This is to ensure safety of the passenger as well as of the instructor.
✈️Can I bring my own camera/ phone?
No. Unfortunately, as per the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) we are not allowed to have any passengers with recording devices in the plane. The tandem instructors and camera flyers have gone through thorough training to be able to bring cameras while skydiving. You can however, purchase one of the media packages at check-in.
✈️What happens if the skydive gets cancelled due to weather?
In case of bad weather on the day of your skydive, you have a few options.
1 you can reschedule to the next available time slot.
2. You can reschedule to one of our other bases
3. If neither of these options work with your travel schedule, you can opt for a full refund.
✈️How long does the whole experience take? Depending on the altitude of your jump the timings will vary. We say to allow 2 to 3 hours for the whole experience. This is to allow time for things we cannot predict, like bad weather and other operational delays.
