CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY
Today we held our annual Club Championships and the weather played its part as well. After heavy rain for most of the week, the sun shone to help dry out underfoot. All matches were planned to go 36 holes with the Junior Men finalists needing all 36 holes to find the winner.
The sun shone from the start of the matches at 8.45am, breaking for lunch after 18 holes then completing the second half of the day until a winner was found.
Many thanks to Villa Maria who sponsored our special day.
This is a special day on our calendar. Congratulations to all the champions and to the runners-up.

Many of our members will remember June Maslin. Sad to hear she passed away on Friday.

The club lost a true legend with the passing of June Maslin last week. A member since 2001 after moving up from Gore, June was made a Life Member in 2016, in recognition of her tireless commitment to golf, not only at Fairhall but also in the wider district.

From mentoring juniors to coaching and encouraging new women members with her regular Monday ladies and 9-holers on Tuesday.

June, a former Club Captain and multiple club champion, has a list of achievements that are just too long to list here.

Members like June don't come along often. You will be missed.

Rest in Peace

A memorial service for June is being held on Friday 8th May, 2pm at the Springlands Chapel Cloudy Bay Funeral Services, Blenheim.

NATIONAL TEAMS
Rarangi Golf Club hosted the Tasman final of the National Teams Competition today. Nine Tasman clubs had teams of four who had qualified in their own club competition. Our team of Anita McCaffrey, Ellie Gillies, Barbara Speedy and Mary Butler qualified to represent Picton. Fantastic weather for the teams. Picton finished a very credible 3rd equal. The event was won by Rarangi, 2nd was Hokitika and 3rd equal were Greenacres and Picton. Well done ladies.

Top male today was Aaron Wilson with 36 points and top female was Maria McConway with 37 points.

With just one round to go HR Engineering are leading with 351, second equal are Picton ITM and Maccas Lawn Care with 349 and Beachcomber fourth with 345.
