Capital Slowpitch

Capital Slowpitch Capital Slowpitch is a social community league played on Thursday nights at Kilbirnie Park. Competition starts Labour Weekend & goes until March each year.

Teams consist of 10 Players, minimum 4 females. Get in touch today! Soft, underarm toss only (Each pitch must have an arc 1m – 3m high)
No bunting
No base-stealing

Message from Wellington City Council about the upcoming skatepark development.

Kia ora koutou,

We wanted to update you on the Kilbirnie destination skate park project, which will transform this area into an exciting and vibrant community and youth hub, enhancing play, active recreation and the overall park experience. While we are excited about what is ahead, we also acknowledge there will be some disruption during the construction phase.

Early works and site preparation are planned to begin on Tuesday 18 November 2025, with main construction scheduled to start in early 2026. This will affect the amount of parking in the precinct at different times throughout the project, particularly around the eastern side of the aquatic centre to the rec centre and library and the southern end of the sports field. A map of the early works site preparation fencing is included below.

We understand this may affect how people access activities at the park during construction and appreciate your understanding as we work through the development of the space. We encourage you to plan for alternative parking arrangements or allow more time for your visit, and to share these updates where relevant. We will continue to provide updates on the project page as construction progresses: https://wellington.govt.nz/your-council/projects/kilbirnie-park
